I should have bought one of these while they were still cheap enough and wished I had. Looks like it holds a good sized quilt. I use the floor or a big table at our county extension office if I get to be up there.
This is such a pretty quilt!
I make a lot of bed size quilts, so I usually lay my blocks out on the floor. If is a crib size I use my dining table. I also use my dining table when I quilt. I butt my longarm up to one corner with a 6 foot folding table on the side, butted up to the dining table too. It holds the weight of the big quilt so I can maneuver it to free motion.
I also have a very similar table. I made permanent marks on it to measure specific lengths of fabric. I wish the engineer(s) who designed this would have considered making it closer to friendly measurements: 36 inches wide, middle panel 12 inches wide, and drop panels 24 inches wide. Obvious to me this was designed by a man who is single or his wife does not own a sewing machine. LOL. Just imagine using the various panels--or combination--to cut fabric pieces!
Wow! that would be neat. One of the quilting companies should make that! I do put my larger cutting mat on it and use it for cutting. The is the only flat surface in my house that doesn't get filled. lOL
I have this exact same table and one of the roller wheels broke on off on one of the leaf extensions, so my husband bought some PVC pipe and cut it to length and I put it under the bar just beside where the roller wheel would be. It worked so well that I had him cut me 3 more to use under the other bar for extra stability. It is a great table and I've had mine for many, many years! Mine stays half open all the time.
I LOVE that idea. how nice if we could just slip it down overt to lock it, or extra stability... hmmmm
Your quilt is grand, and I love your fabric weights!!
As for my work area - I use whatever space is large enough for my project. The guest room bed, the family room floor, my sewing table for short runners and other small projects just to name a few. But my favorite is the flannel covered foldable design wall I made from an old marketing display board. It’s only about a lap size or half a twin quilt, but it works well for me so far. Wish I could cover the double closet doors with flannel, but I suspect hubby wouldn’t like it much.
I'd love to have a design wall.... I never thought of taking over the closet doors... hmmm
Beautiful cats. No project is complete without the cat hair! I use my dining room table. Hugs. nan
my dining room table is circular... and always has cats on it too. this quilt went to a little boy whose family has two cats.
Hi Jan, I use my dining table, the floor or my bed to layout work. The quilt is gorgeous and will be loved, love Chris
A wobbly table isn’t something I have. If I am needing a big table I take the work to the Monday craft group or another group I go to. The second group always has lots of extra hands to help
Oh, that would be so nice!!! I doo so many in the middle of the night... I don't know if I could wait till Mondays.
