Looking for advice: I'm planning on doing some embroidery using Sulky Sticky + (a sticky self-adhesive tear-away) Stabilizer. Does anyone have tips for me before I get started as I understand this stuff can gum up the needle? I have avoided using this stabilizer at all costs and am at odds as to whether to tackle the project.

Hoop stabilizer only in hoop, taut. Then take a safety pin and trace the inside of your hoop lightly to remove top layer (non-sticky). Then apply your fabric.

Thank you for this tip. I believe I remember reading somewhere to follow this procedure to prevent the hoop from becoming sticky. The only drawback to this is that I'm using a hat hoop adapter that does not use the inner hoop. The stabilizer MUST stick to the outer hoop.

i have a couple of sticky stabilizers from Floriani that I have not used that are supposed to be good. If you would like to try them, give me a call. You can pick up one or both when you come by to see Mandy's quilt.

I’ve used a few different brands of adhesive stabilizers and have never had a problem.
But I did have some issues with the spray adhesive causing lint build-up on my needles. So to remedy this, I rub a drop of silicone spray along the needle and that seems to do the trick. If you’re worried about it, you could try this too, to ward off any potential problems.
Good luck with your project.

I use Dritz Temporary spray without any gummy build-up or lint problems.
