Another big day in the garden. Killed the second five foot snake of the season with my trusty shovel. WOW! I'm not much of a morning person, but that got my eyes wide open.

Unless the snake is dangerous (poisonous), let it be. They keep mice and other critters out of your garden. The only one I have intentionally killed was curled up on my front steps and did not move when I approached and poked at it with a stick; although I have (unintentionally) chopped up a couple in the lawn mower over the years. One dashed away across the driveway while I was tending the tomatoes yesterday.

No, just don't want to lose sight of him and then wonder when I'll see him next.

Gosh not something I am used to in my UK garden.

Not used to it either. I went back and counted the snakes I've killed here, nine in twenty years. I still remember where I found each one. (Live beside a pond.)
