to look like i wasn't going to get any support as I got passed from one to another. Finally I heard back from Jackson's & THEY will honour my warranty, (I'm not cheering yet), ***ONLY if it is proven to be a manufacturing fault.***

And i have to pay for freight costs to Melbourne, (that's in Victoria, the State south of here and 900 km away). No biggy.

Now, perhaps i'm sceptical, but i seem to have been this route before in my life and have always found that when those terms (ONLY if it is proven to be a manufacturing fault) are emphasised, rarely do you get the repair done for free under the warranty.

At least they have offered me the use of their shipping account so I could save on freight costs, (of course this was only after i asked them if they would)

I know! I'm being really negative and pessimistic but deep down i am praying i am proven totally wrong so I can shout their praises to the world.

At least i know it will be fixed now, so i don't have to start looking for another machine that we can't afford anyway. :-}

And yes i'm feeling much happier now than i was right up until lunchtime today. So now my baby is all boxed up ready for a long trip south and (hopefully) a speedy return to me, in top working order, without costing us an arm and a leg.

Wish me luck please friends, i'll worry myself stupid until she returns safely. Guess i should try and finish the design by hand but on towelling??? I somehow don't think so LOL!
Well i'm off to bed so hope to catch up with you all in the morning.
cheerio, hugs n roses to you all, M

Don't worry Toet, Janome machine's are not Elna's, but Janome have taken over the Elna company and are now responsible for the new Elna's. Mine is an Xquisit 2 manufactured by Elna and imported by Jackson's not Janome. Confused? If you bought a Janome machine from Janome, you shouldn't have any problems, they're like Holdens, parts readily available. hugs n roses and welcome to Cute, Meganne

oh meganne, What an ordeal. I hope they honor your warranty. We will bad mouth them if not!! Only advise I would give if you were here in USA, would be to insure with postal for full value. Our postal system is not always reliable. I used to work in a jewelry store and always insured for full value and signed receipt of every thing we mailed. If someone said they didn't receive it, we had it covered. Good luck sweetie.

That's great advice Katy, but she's going door to door by TNT, in Aus they're equivalent to your DHL, so i'm hoping she'll be pretty safe. I don't think ANY postal system is truly reliable, especially for something as big as this.

William Jacksons have always been a good company to deal with, have been there many times with my industrial machines. There workshops are full of all bits and pieces, so hopefully they should be able to fix your machine. Really there is little that can o wrong [apart from electronics] in a machine. Check before sending machine that it is not clogged up with cottons- aound flywheel, bobbincasing etc.

That's comforting to know. When I spoke to Peter J, before i bought my Elna, he seemed extremely nice. I have checked the machine so many times, but she's as clean as a whistle, truly only stitched 24 designs and I clean after every use, that's why my Supermatic has lasted 40 years without even a new light globe. I kept praying i would find something so i wouldn't have to send her away, but nothing!! Oh well, i'm sure they'll find something. Hugs n roses, M

that is very nice of you i would offer also but that would be a far trip tennessee usa here lol

meganne by meganne 29 Jul 2008

Thanks so much Pauline, that is really nice of you to offer, but stupidly i had moved the design and didn't record the increments so, even on my machine, i think i'm in for trouble lining it up again, especially since Jackson's wanted me to send EVERYTHING back including hoops. Who knows why???!!! hugs n roses, M

Hey, Meg, so glad you got some good response from someone, at least. I hope you get to shout their praises when they find out it was a whatsamazoot that was installed backwards at the factory, hee hee hee. Maybe they're a bit iffy because they get lots of folks who don't know how to clean their machines, etc. & expect them to be fixed free when they didn't maintain them right. I hope so, anyway. I'm so lucky my Janome dealer is only 12 miles down the road!!! And they are patience personified with me when I drag my baby in there for stupid things ("it's making a noise". Dealer:"it's supposed to make that noise, it's sewing." duh) Best of luck to you, hope you have a nice morning, and good news when they look at your machine. Luv ya, Marji
