I made these for my daughter Kimeya. The one on the left is art deco and has her name. The one on the right is bumble bee's. For both I used felt and med wt tear away. The bumble bee bookmark did the border at the end so I was able to attach a piece of lavender fabric to the back to cover up the stitching. The one with her name I'm not sure how I will back that one, it didn't do a border/frame at the end.

Here is the website for the one on the left I did change the design, removed the letter B that was on it and replaced with my daughters name

The one on the right is from
http://designstash.com/store/inde...
and I did change the colors to my liking and what I have on hand for thread.

Charlie, these are just great!! I'm surprised the FSL sewed out so well on the felt. Ok, now where did the bee one come from? I just love the metallic thread on it!! I'd like to try the bee one for a lady I know who keeps bees & sells honey. Poor bees aren't doing so well this year, maybe this would cheer her up. Thanks, and great job! Marji

They look good I have done the bumble bee It is a cross stitch and needs the backing The other looks like FSL. Normally with FSL you use the same thread in bobbin and you don't need to back

I tried to find out if it was FSL, but all the cuties had better things to do on a Saturday night go figure! I changed the colors in the bumble bee and used metallic for the outlines cuz I like shiny sparkly things lol *

Charlie, they are wonderful - most FSL does not have a backing - it is what it is - but if you felt inclined to add a backing - I guess you just glue a piece of felt to the back - but if it is true FSL - you do not need to stitch it on anything but the stablizer. Hehehe! Great job!

TY Shirlene, I saw a video on youtube and the woman put a backing on hers and it was FSL so I didn't know. I wasn't positive if mine were FSL or not so I figured better safe than sorry and just stitched them up w/ felt and tear away. For the art deco one I took some sticky tear away and elmers glued it to the back lol works for me!

shirlener88 by shirlener88 10 Aug 2008

Charlie, it sounds like you have found what works for you - hope you enjoy doing more FSL and bookmarks - I myself adore them. Hehehe!

TY I still don't know if they are FSL or not but they stiched out ok.

elaine45 by elaine45 09 Aug 2008

If they held together when you washed you the stabilizer they are free standing, I have stitched out the one on the right. Lots of fun.

misscharlie by misscharlie 10 Aug 2008

I didn't use WSS on them I used tear away because I didn't know if they were FSL or not.
