I don't have an answer for your sewing question, Becky, but just a comment. I'm reading that kids' names shouldn't be on the outside of thier stuff. I don't have kids or grands, but I would never have thought of that. It hurts my heart that our world has become such a place of danger for children that they can't even have their name on something! I live in the country, a tiny place this fear has not touched, I guess. Think I'll stay here. (Shaking my head in disbelief), Marji
They live on an AFB and I guess I don't think about them being out with the bad people like I should. I like the suggestions I have received about initials and designs to use so they can tell their purses apart.
How about just their initials? Perhaps on a quilters tag? Freebie quilters tag links First one is her home page she lives in S.D. that is the reason "dakota" is in her web address it has nothing to do with the dakota designs

Second link is the freebie tags

Good Luck, hope this helped *
Make a pocket to sew inside the purse & put their names on the pocket. You can put it on with the machine before you sew it up, OR if you're too far along with them, you can still hand sew a pocket inside. If you don't have a font the right size, does your machine have fonts in it? May not be as pretty as an embroidery font, but will serve the purpose. I put the size on the facing of all my grands clothes with the machine font so my daughter knows what size it is when she passes it down to the next one! And PLEASE don't put them on the outside. One initial maybe, but never the whole name. I make pillow cases & towels with their names on them...those stay at home or go to an overnight party at friends' houses.
Purses are completed. Just wanted them to be able to tell apart at a glance. I too put the sizes in their clothes. These gals are so close together one outgrows as the other grows into the size but when I make identical clothes it helps the girls know which one is theirs. Initial is a good idea
If you are a member of Lovesembroidery Yahoo group they have a luggage tag with the Iced Iris alphabet
If you are amember of lovesembrouderycreations yahoo group there is a set of tags, all different sizes.
I am a member and I only found a circle and an 8 sided tag all bigger than I wanted. Did I miss a smaller one?
For safety reasons it is not advisable to have the childs' mane on an item that wull be in public view. If you are going to have their names on their purses have it attached to the inside of the bags. Suggest using designs on the bags with which they can identify. ie you say Sarah likes soccer the put a soccer ball wtc on her purse and on Hannahs' use a ballerina, ballet shoes, & Cora use ladybugs or flowers. Does that make sense.
Yes. That does make sense. I will work on that. My tags were so crowded with both their names and a design.
