I have Janome 300E, embroidery only machine. I also sew and have other sewing machines & serger. Whatever you do, if you have dealers close by, go to the dealers!! Check out the machines & test drive them, and find out what kind of service you can get, and if the people treat you nicely. I know you can get bargains over the internet, but then who do you call when you have questions or problems or need service? I have a superb dealer I purchased from, they support with free lessons on both the machine & software, and are always having classes, trunk shows, etc. Just beware, all dealers aren't created equal. Are they trying to find the best fit of machine for you, or trying to sell you the most expensive one? My dealer found the best fit, even though my DH would have sprung for the most expensive. And get software, you'll want it down the line, for sure. Good Luck, Marji
Welcome to cute !I started out with a White 33oo,which did a good job, but was picky on thread brand and needed to go to shop regularly for cleaning and maimtenance.I was hooked and wanted to do bigger designs and went to a Brother ult 2002D, I love it and think it does a fantastic job but it cost alot more then the 1st one did.
You have many good answers here. I have a Brother SE270D. I didn't know anything about embroidery until I got it last December. I like my machine but the only thing that I wanted to be different is the hoop, mine is 4x4 and can't be bigger. My advice is if you are looking for a machine, try to get one that has a big hoop if you can afford it. Welcome to this great community. You will love to be here. Flower and XoXo
I have a janome 300E and it is very easy to use but you could look at the reviews on top of page
Welcome to the 'Cute' family. I have a Bernina Deco 330 which only does embroidery. I also do lots of other crafts like patchwork. beadwork, knitting and crochet. *4U
katskreations, welcome to the 'CUTE' family - you will get as many answers as there are members - only because most of us - bought a machine and found this site much later - not that matters much to any of us - it would depend on the amount of money that you can spend and on what you are looking for - if you want top of the line quality - you have to pay for it - you best bet is to look around - go to some stores - see what the machines will do - if you buy off the internet - you will not get the manufactor's guarantee or warrenty. I have a Babylock Ellengante 2 Nancy Zieman Signature Series - I have owned an Ellure, and another Ellegante in the past. I love the quailty of machine embroidery - if you want to see some of the items that I have stitched out - take a look in the project area of this site. Hehehe! Good luck, if we can assist your further feel free to ask.
Hi and welcome, first read the reviews than find a machine that has support in your area, I have janome MC 11000 great machine but no support in my area
I have a Huskvarna Designer SE and a Bernina 730. I like both machines. I will say when I started out I bought the middle of the line Huskvarna Viking Rose. It was okay but soon I wanted more and after three more machines traded in I now have the top of the line. It seems like I couldn't get enough. So, if budget will allow go top of the line. I do not do much digitizing so I did not get the top there. I bought the Bernina for the stitch regulator and it does very nice embroidery and has wonderful support. The support for the Huskvarna Viking is very good also but I have to travel farther to that location. Hope this helps a little. This is a big decision.
I have a Brother 190D, which is a stand alone, takes 4 x 4(") hoop. Then I have a Designer1, which is an embroidery cum sewing machine, takes 15 x 24 cm (approx 6 x 9). Both embroider nicely. But there's a huge difference: not only the larger embroidery area (which once you are hooked is never large enough), there are lots of things that make life easier with the far more expensive machines. So go to a good dealer, let them explain what the machines they have are capable of, think of what you want to achieve, consider your budget and then choose. Success.
Here's a link that may give you some more info...

What you want to do is go to a sewing center and try some out. We all have different ones. I have a Husqvarn Viking Designer 1 and love it. I does more than embroider. Check them all out first before you buy. A*4u
Welcome to the Cute Family All willing to help you at any time. I brough a Janome 300e does Machine Embroidery only and also the Embird program .I am not a seamstress .,but do a lot of quilting knitting ,bead knitting ,hand embroidery etc. ENJOY
Well welcome. You have come to the right spot. As ricky said a lot of us have janome300e/350e. I love mine, but I think the best thing is for you to go shopping & compare all the different features, Whichever way you will get horribly addicted to which there is no cure. Good luck :)
Welcome to the best embroidery site, I have a new brother only 2 weeks old, got this one because my last machine was a brother and lasted over 10 years and I used it every day. But what I would recommend for you is to go to your local sewing centre and test drive a few machines and see which one you like the best, good luck I know there are so many choices out there and it can be very confusing but your heart will lead you in the right direction. Heres a flower to help with the decision process, and once again welcome...
It is best to buy one from a dealer close to you if possible because if you have questions it's easier to go and get the help. Look a different brands to help you decide. Good luck.
Welcome to the group. You will find a lot of help here as we have a lot of crafty people. You can now start collecting flowers.
Quite a few of us have the Janome 300E or the Janome 350E ,which are embroidery only machines. I personally love the 300E and have had no problems with it. It is very easy touse and so is the software that comes with it. Ricky.
i only have a brother got mine from hsn.com because they done payments and right now they have a brother that connects with a usb cord on payments so if you have a credit card the first link i am posting is my machine it does not have usb but ped basic card reader the second link is the one with the usb port
Mary what is the maximum embroidering field for your machine? The reason I ask is so you don't go and buy a bigger hoop (like I did) to find out it only has a 4x4 range then you have to split designs and we know what a pain that can be LOL *
Welcome to the cute Site, at the moment we have bn having server problems, but give us a chance we r the best of the best, Kat U will find that machine embroidery can b very, very addictive. I've only bn at it 4 2 yrs. now & only 4 fun, I do things 4 others if they ask me to.But it is so much fun 4 me I feel guilty 4 letting them pay me. I believe I would start with a smaller less expensive machine if I were U & see if that's what U want. there r others here with so much more experience than I have that if u will listen to them they will give U excellent advice. they r more familiar with all the different designs.Check out the reviews & see what they say about the different machines they have. I would make sure that what ever I bought, I could get classes on, to learn & that U had good backup from who U buy it from as well as someone that can fix & repair anything that goes wrong. I started with a bernina & had no one close to help me. I now have an Ellegante made by Babylock I think it is wonderful,. the ellegante is very user friendly, bernina not so. The rest of the cutes here will give u pros & cons & that's what we r all about. Helping each other learn, while we r learning from ea. other. Again welcome. u will get lots of answers & welcomes from others. *4U
