Hi Paula, I actually use Embird, MWP and Pulse Illustrator. Each one has its pluses and minuses. You will need the Font Engine with Embird so you can use True Type fonts. They do sew out beautifully and you can really do alot of neat and different things with it. I use it for certain fonts that my $6000 Pulse software doesn't do well. Its drawback is that you can't change anything once you hit "enter". You have to start over with the name or word. MWP has preprogrammed alphabets for you to use and you cannot use fonts. The envelopes are nice because if you need to to a 3 letter monogram, you type in the 3 letters in the correct box and it puts the letters in the right format for you. It always leaves the trim after each letter, though, which I don't like. Embird is by far the better deal cost wise as you can do absolutely everything with it. Good luck
Paula welcome to the cute site, You've gotten but just a little taste of what we r all about, we tell U what we think & then U make the decision what is best 4 U. I am an Embird person, I know nothing about MWP. I couldn't accomplish much without my Embird because as others have told U it does so very much. *4U Again welcome aboard, U have so much to gain by being a cute
Paula, first Welcome!!! Glad to have you with us. I don't have Embird, but another digitizing program. Yes, what the Cuties are saying is that with Embird you can do more than just monograms, you can digitze artwork, drawings, etc. I believe there is a free trial you can get by just downloading it off the internet, but I haven't done that. Teri (simplyrosie) can help you there, I think, e-mail her if she doesn't get back here. Good luck! Marji
Thanks to everyone that has responded. When you buy Embird do you just downlowed it off the internet? Right now I just want to be able to do bigger font that I am not able to on my Janome 11000. Sounds like with embird I may be able to do that and more is that right???
Hi Paula, I have Embird ad love the program. One thing that's nice about this software is that you're able to buy the basic program and build from there depending on your needs. I would strongly suggest that if you plan on purchasing digitizing software that you invest in some good tutorials... makes the learning curve less painful and your progression will be faster. I can't speak well enough of Embird... the program is awesome and the support from the programmers is amazing. If you go this route, you may want to buy Carolyn Keber's tutorials (from Secretsof.com). She is a fabulous teacher, hence I was digitizing basic designs within a few days. Good luck
I have Embird and love what I know how to work so far. It really all depends on what you want to use them for. I don't know anything about MWP but the name makes me think it is only used for lettering. With Embird you can do so much more with the different plug-ins.
Hi Paula, I have both Monogram Wizard Plus and Embird. I never use MW unless they have a font that I must use that Embird does not. The alaphabet letters in Embird stitch so much better than MW in my opinion. Plus you can do so much more with Embird. For example, you can import your design into Embird and then add your text anyway you want and continue to play around with it without having to redo the font in MW. So, my vote is for Embird. sorry i have neither tried the free trial of embird when i got the concept of it it expiredlol now i have corel deco studio and corel drawings x3 i know a lot here do have embird and like it i guess it is up to you on what and how much you want to spend
I have the Embird trial and the cost of Embird is fair, IMO it's when you have to buy all the plug ins that I think it starts to get pricey.
Paula First Welcome to the Cute Family. I don't know about Embird ( I would love it but). Just bought the Monogram Wizard Plus. . It is really good . and there are Alpha pack that you can add to it. There are many Fonts and they really sew out good. You can spell out names, or do one , two,or three letters at a time. I really like it. Hope this helps. maybe someone will tell you about Embird. Good Luck A flower for you.
