I' m sorry I brought this back up because Lillian's cornbread salad recipe is in here. My plumbing problems are now resolved, thank goodness!!
Sorry about your problems Hope things are better soon. A flower for you.
My daughter is the Pres of her Homeowners Assoc. Their entire housing complex was built with inadequate pipes for water. They have had so many leaks thay can no longer be counted. They are being sued by the city for bills of 5thousand USD per month for water. It 5K bills have been going on for over a year. Plumbers will no longer come to the area. She has been working on the problems for over two years. The mayor of her city just called her and thanked her for sticking with the job at hand, he also asked her to run for city council. He will back her 100%. That is quite a compliment for a YW of 28 yrs old and single. I do feel your plumbing pain. We have lost a home to water as well. Good Luck with the repairs. It could be worse.
This recipe sounds yummy. I sure do miss Jiffy mixes. They don't have them up here. I can only make cornbread from scratch and it just doesn't have the same taste. Once a year, if I'm lucky, I run across corn tortillas and stock up big time. Canadians think tacos come in a box. Don't know what they are missing but I sure do. Thanks Lillian. I've copied it to my computer recipe book and will try it next week.
sorry about your plumbing problems, not funny, but at least not on Christmas Day when about to have lunch, pipe burst in front garden spurting water throu open windows. Funny now not then
I first thought open windows on Christmas day, them I remembered you are down under. It is summer there. Sometimes the temp reaches 70's here in Georgia on c Christmas or we could have a snow storm. Strange about this state.
Thanks Cuties for your concern. I had hoped they would start digging today (Wed.), but it will be Thursday now. Hope the rain holds off to the week end. I have been trimming bushes for 2 days. They are coming down from the meter along the drive way and around it through my Indian Hawthorn bushes, under the side walk and through my Camellia bushes.
Oh my gosh, this all sounds too familiar!!! Don't you just love getting "little" surprises? Oh Katy, I'm so sorry about this... :o(
Yes!! only this is a big one! the PITTS. These people that made the pipe have had a class action law suit against them but they only paid for 10 years and I built home 15 1/2 yrs ago.
Oh man! I feel for you. I've had water well problems this summer and believe me I know what it's like when the water isn't working right. Hang in there.
Katy just saw msg with U asking 4 cornbr. Repeat the layering a 2nd time. Best made ahead of time & kept n frig over night or several hrs. 'till flavors meld. Enjoy!! This is delicious, The recipe doesn't caoo 4 it but I often sprinkle sharp chedder cheese on ea. layer also. this can be a meal n itself.
Lillian, I just saw this, and must try. When you say 8 1/2 oz box, I assume you mean Jiffy corn muffin mix. I know it is a yellow corn meal and is sweet. Do you think it would work with sm pk of White Lilly cornbread mix with a little sugar added if not, I'll wait until I go back to the store before I try it. My sweetie has a cookout at his airport coming up. Something new. I could set the serving dish in a larger dish of ice and not be afraid of the mayo. By the way, do you use Hellmans mayo?
