Great work! I admire your courage, as soon as to make FIRST thus a heavy design. I congratulate! Flowers for you
What a wonderful story! To win an award on your first quilt...that's amazing. :-)
I acan believe it is absolutely grandiose! It was a job well done, & I can just see your DH carting all the scraps around for yrs. *4U
This is a wonderful story. and you were so persistent to stay with it. The results certainly justified the means. I hope you have someone special to hand it down to. Lovely!!!
A true treasure for sure. You did an excellent job this being a first quilt and even winning an award is fantastic.

It is a very nice quilt, all that hard work payed off at the end.
nicely done and yes you should make sure it is documented for the future. The story was nice to read and should be remembered. A treasure to be remembered always. *4u
Lovely quilt and lovely story to go with it. Something to treasure forever.
What a great story. It is a beautiful quilt. I am sure you are very proud of it. I have been quilting the last 12 years of my 72 years and some day I hope to enter one of my quilts in a show. Or maybe one of my kids will enter it for me. You certainly have something to be proud of.
Oh please enter them yourself. When my husband's mother passed away, it was close to the fair and our son entered one of her quilts and one of her ceremic dolls. She won first on both. She never would enter because she thought hers weren't good enough. I felt the same way on my quilt. My quilt no way, with ladies quilting for years I felt I had no chance.
Such a beautiful quilt and it has a story to tell. I agree with Shirlene, you need to document the story somewhere for future generations. Maybe a quilt journal?? *4U
Thank you Shirley. Never thought about that. I still have the ribbon and newspaper announcement on it. My boys also remember my making it and taking it to the fair.
Deb, unbelievable is right - thank you for sharing your trials and errors of a quilt that had to be made - with all those scraps and all the time keeping them - it was meant to be - how you got the pattern - how you won 'Best of Show' - how you still had to return to get it back, after you sent someone else - just says that you and that quilt were made for each other and you belong together - what a legacy and please - please - please - make sure you write this up and have it incased some where with this quilt for the future and for history of your quilt. Way to go lady!
Thank you Shirlene. My sons are already discussing WHO gets the quilt. They were young when I made it, but they remember watching me make it. They know their shirts and shorts material are in it. hee hee And material they remember me making a gift for someone. Amazing what kids remember.
Our experiences are what makes life interesting and now---BEAUTIFUL!! Nice heirloom.
Love the story and the quilt is amazing. What happy memories our little hands mold.;)
Awesome story. Great job, it is really beautiful. I enjoy quilting and these things do take a lot of time. It is wonderful that you won Best of Show, you deserve it!
Thank you. I wasn't even there when it was announced. My husband was having surgery that day. My bosses wife was there for it and was going to bring it home if I didn't make it. They wouldn't let her and she called me frantic. I had to drive 60 miles and got there 5 minutes before they closed down. Didn't want them to keep it.
