I found out on Thursday, the day after my surgery, that in the process of the surgery, I had gotten a collapsed lung. I told them that my chest hurt really bad, but they didn't listen to me. So I went home and the next day the visiting nurse came over to check on me and got NO chest sounds on my left side. I was then rushed to the hospital by ambulance and then did emergency surgery to re-inflate my left lung. They told me that a couple more hours and.... well, let's not go there, I am better now. I then developed pneumonia in my right lung. So I spend the better part of a week in the hospital with a chest tube hanging out of my left side and pneumonia in my right lobe. After much medication and lots of pain meds, I went home on Thursday. I am just not in the process of trying to catch up on the computer. I can't tell yo how many messages I have in my in-box, not to mention all the posts I have to read. The worst part is that I think I have missed some of the letters of the alphabets I was collecting. Well, I'll figureit out somehow. Thanks again for all your well wishes and prayers and I thought of you often. FYI - Got into an argument with the Charge Nurse about using the computer to send you a message, needless to say, I lost! Well it's good to be back. Eric

Yeeks, Eric, this was supposed to be simple!!! You sound like my brother. He went to hospital for something like ingrown toenail & ended up with quadruple bypass. I'm sure glad you're better now, and that the visiting nurse came early that day!!! Somehow I can just see you in a pitched battle with a charge nurse about sending a message to an embroidery group, hee hee hee!! Thanks for thinking of us, anyway. We were wondering where you were. My goodness Eric you sure don't do things by halves do you? The numbness in your hands was nothing to what u have gone thru with your chest etc. What a worrying time you have been having, should have listened to you hey! But so glad to hear you are on the mind - my thoughts are with you and a speedy recovery so you can catch up on all the fonts you have missed (FROM ANOTHER SITE) tut tut tut (hahahaha) - at least you confessed! WOW you have really had a rough time of it. Take it slow and easy so there are no more set backs.

What a rough time you have been having! So glad you are getting better and so glad to see you back here - you have been missed. Do take it easy and don't try to rush your recovery. Too easy to push to0 much and get sick again, even worse. (Been there, done that) Best wishes and a flower for you.

So very glad you were in the hospital when you got the pneumonia otherwise who knows what could have happened and i hope you'll extend our thanks to your community nurse for being so observant, she deserves a reward.
Now please don't overdo things as pneumonia is not a thing to take lightly, it still kills people. Make sure you book in with your GP to have the Pneumonia vaccine once you are well again, it's good for 5 years and is an absolute 'must have' once you've already had pneumonia.
If i lived nearby i'd cook you some special chicken soup and dumplings.... hugs, Meganne
