Do you realize all of what I had on there? Pics live ever... emb designs galore... :'( :'(

this must be frustrating, is there anyone around you who knows more about pc and external hard drive? maybe there is
some cure to get it all back. But I can imagine the way you feel, the same happened to me with my photo memery card. It seems now the cardreader of my pc does not work anymore. and when I tried to place my photo's on pc , all my photo's are gone. so I know the feeling. *4u

yes i do relize what you had...........I have the same on mine but I learned the hard way when my hard drive went no I have backups..........don't take chances anymore. I have alittle on here that isn't back up yet but will be in a few days. Hope you get it all back.........as I did'nt

So sorry to hear, but hope you can get it fixed. It again si a warning for all of us to back up thing from computers and ecternall drives. If I can help with voting for designs, please let me know and I help you with that, That is all I can.

Joanie, I am so very sorry!! I don't know about computer hardware, so I can't help you there at all. I would talk to somebody who knows a lot (and that's not necessarily a paid techie), because it sounds more like an access problem. Why would every file but one get wiped out? But just a reminder: CD's and DVD's are not that expensive. Even if you don't use the RW's, just get a bunch of DVD's and burn all your pattern files onto it once a month, date it, and put it away. Even if you're copying the same pattern over again every month, who cares? You will have it if something goes wrong. Please burn copies, don't just rely on hard drives. Oh, Joanie, I'm just sick about this, you've been having so much computer trouble! Best to you, Marji

I am so sorry for you. Keep trying though. Like newipswich I lost a digital camera full of photo's. My first grandchild seeing her greatgrandfather for the first time and many other family firsts,also my daughters graduation from college and her engagement pics and wedding shower. It was a very eventful week out of town but I didn't know to take the camera to someone, so they are really lost. Just keep checking with people and techs. I know they can fix it. * 4 all

I only hope this is a minor error and something can be done. Please don't give up yet or do anything drastic untill all avenues tested....

I'm so totally computer illiterate, all I can think to offer is to go have a talk with some computer tech.

Thank you, but yes my new PC recognizes the one and only folder on it and Debbie's older comp here reads exactly same thing. Frustrating.

I'm with Teri - do you think that the new computer is not readying the external? Is the new on Vista? My hubby had problems with that, and had to do something different. Hopefully you will be able to see what the problem is.

I thought of that too, but my older one that died was also a vista. maybe something happened and wiped everything out while it was plugged into the comp?!?! Doesn't work with this vista nor one of Debbies XP's :( Thank you for suggestion

WAIT... remember you got a new computer... is the computer reading the hard drive???? What about trying it in your old computer or Deb's?

Did that. I installed the correct way and also did try one of Deb's comps too. Samething. Looks like something happened on Aug 14 as only one Windows folder on that date in it... other than that, TOTALLY empty :'(

not all of them, "Maybe" a few of them. :'(

dont panic, try to refresh your computer to an earlier date when everything was there and see if that helps.

This is a brand new computer and the external hard drive plugs into an outlet and then into one of the USB's on my comp. Two totally different systems :(

Tell me you have it burnt on a disk . . .something.

I wish I could tell you that, I can only tell you that I only have a small amount of it on disk :'(
