Is there anyone out there that knows whether or not you can embroider on a sweater?

I embroidered on a knitted blanket one time. All I did was put a layer of tearaway on top as well as on bottom.
It came out just fine.

Oh, yes, you absolutely can. I use an iron on stabilizer with a 2nd layer of cut away, attached by adhesive...I don't want anything to move. Put a water soluable on top and you can just go to town on it! Same thing goes for an afghan.;)

Now, this is very interesting. I went to the Viking store today and asked for help with that same questions. I got a cute sweater for my daughter's Bday, and want to do something speacial on it. Don't know if I will get it started this weekend or not. have a lot of unfinished things that need attention.

Good luck with your project. I may attempt it tonight. I am going to see the grand kids next week (in Eugene, OR on our way to New Mexico for a month or so.)and would like to take the sweater to my granddaughter.

I forgot to tell ou to use Solvy on top of sweater so stitches do not sink in.

Yes, you can. I would use a fusible mesh with a cut-a-way under it as stabilizer. It stitches about like a tee shirt. I would try the design on an old sweater first for practice to see how it stitches out. I have done this but not recently.

It should be just fine to do it. What kind of sweater are you using?
