I was stitching this huge beautiful parrot and had the same problem, posted it here and poof got the cure. All that was needed was a second sheet of stabilizer underneath and it stitch out terrific. This is the easiest solution so give it a try first before you start changing your bobbin tension around. My machine is so computerized that it sets the bobbin automatically. Good luck.
I was having this problem. My tension was down to zeroand still happened I cleaned out the bobbin case, went to a thicker bobbin thread and have had no problems since. My technician told me the best thread to use in bobbin was overlocker thread. I have always used Janome and Madeira bobbin thread and was having a lot of trouble now I use overlocker thread and NO PROBLEMS
same here raels, I changed to matching overlock thread on a very good digitizers advice and it works great...
It could be many things but the ones I will check first is the tension and second try a different type of stabilizer and then go from there.
This usually happens when the bobbin tension is looser than the top or the threads are of a different gauge.
You could loosen the top thread tension by 1 increment or, if possible, tighten bobbin tension by 1 increment
or, you could try using your top thread in the bobbin.
I prefer to adjust the upper tension rather than the bobbin.
I just noticed Sanc had already given this answer and in normal machine sewing this is the main reason for bobbin threads coming through the surface.
In Embroidery it could also mean your fabric is too thin so you may need to add WSS stabiliser on top or add a second sheet of stabiliser underneath, or both. Hugs n roses, Meganne
I always use TWO layers of tear away stabilizer and have never had that problem. If you happen to be able to see any stittch out from digitizers like Sue Box, there are always at least two layers of tear away under her designs. If there are more than 40000 stitches, it helps to slip another layer under the hoop.
There is no need to put stabilizer on top of any fabric except toweling and blanketing and anything that has a pile.

Thank you all for your help. I am now going to try to search what could be wrong. I shall tell you, may be it will help somebody else
Either tighten the bobbin tension (if it is easy to do - my machine has a setting to either increase or decrease bobbin (Husqvarna Designer SE) or else loosen your upper thread tension. I did not like to adjust the bobbin when you had to tighten or loosen a screw. If that is what you have to do, loosen the upper tension. Also, a new needle might help.
I have always found to achieve the best results with letters (either text sayings, monograms, etc....) it is best to use the same colour bobbin thread as your top thread.
Better to use the same color in your bobbin when you are working with dark colors especially ...that has been my experience
when mine was messing up I found out it didn't like maderia thread which all I had and plenty. Bought some other and now it isn't messing up. (so far). But I just got mine. It would embroider a design then the next it would mess up took it back and found out it was the thread. Maybe the tention needs ajusting mind did. Hope some of this has helped you. Here is a flower to add.
First I would switch bobbins & put a new needle n froncoisen & see if that helps. It could b any number of things, thread, bobbin thread, hooping even the material u r using. Do not know what machine U have. What does your manual say about stitches not being correct.? You may just need to use more stabalizer(2 pieces) or a different stabalizer. *4U
Thank you Ibrow, I am going to search what could be wrong ; I have a designer.
