Congratulations on your "new Toy" Hope you have the room for it. I was going to get one myself (something like it) But had no room, so I bought a PFAFF Grand Quilter instead. That sits in its box till I'm ready to use it again. Doesn't take up much space. Good luck on your Quilter and hope to see plenty of Quilts on this site hahahaha
I saw these at the Quilt Expo and they are wonderful!! I don't quilt, but seeing one of these babies makes one want to start. They had one that you programed every thing in the computer and sent it to the quilter just like we do with our embroidery designs.
I believe you saw the Qbot. Which is an add on. It costs about 5 grand over and above your machine and frame. NOT in my ballpark.
Mary Jo, Is cruise control the same thing as a stitch regulator? I too am looking to purchase a quilting frame and possibly machine like yours. What kind of machine do yo have on it? I have been looking at a HandiQuilter II.
I have the Inspira frame and a Viking Mega Quilter. It is the same machine as the Pfaff Grand Quilter and the Janome 1600. I believe they are all made by Janome. I have no experience with the Handi Quilter but I have a quilting friend who says don't waste your money on the HQ. Whatever you decide make sure you actually use the machine before you buy! If you're not comfortable with it you won't use it.
Thanks for the info, Mary Jo. I do appreciate it. I have used the handiquilter frame before and I'm OK with that. It just has a short quilting area from front to back. I am going to check out these machines you recomemded. I was not impressed with the HandiQuilter machine I used either. That's why I haven't purchased one yet.
Sorry I forgot to answer part of your question. Yes the Cruise control is a stitch regulator. No matter how fast or SLOW I go the stitches are all the same length.
Looks complicated to me, can you essembly the big quilt thing on your sewingmachine???? HAve seen a bit of your work in the projects, it looks really good.
The frame in this pic is set up 1/2 size. When it is set up at full size you can do a quilt up to 108 inches wide, and the length is pretty much infinite. So you can do up to a queen sized quilt with this frame. You do the quilting only with this, after the top has been pieced. It quilts the top, batting and backing all together. Clear as mud huh?
Thank you for the explanation, very handy, have much fun with your new toy :o)
You are so lucky to have this new toy. Enjoy using it. *4U
I have seen one Have fun Gee I would love one .So easy to use
This looks so complicated, yet after seeing the work you have already done with it, you have accomplished a lot! You and this machine seem to be made for each other. :-) *4u
Actually I keep telling people I'm NOT a quilter! But I do enjoy doing embroidered blocks and putting them into a quilt. This set up was just too good to pass up. So I guess I'll have to become a quilter!!
Thank you all for your comments. I got this baby used, and picked it up for a song on ebay. The seller lives 20 minutes from me so no shipping. And very little set up cause it was almost fully assembled when we picked it up. YeeHa. Flowers for you all.
Oh how wonderful 4 u maryjo. You'll continue doing gorgous work *
Wow nice new toy...have fun but be sure to keep to the speed limit wouldn't want any tickets...LOL..
How lucky can you be. I want oneeeeeeeeeeeeeee. whine whine .I do not have room for one I live is a one bed room apartment . I have a friend that has one and She quilts my quilts for me .they are wonderful.
I am so happy for you.
Oh wow! This looks so intimidating to me... :-) Can't wait to see what you make... xoxo
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH I want one. you are so lucky. do you have to have a certain kind of machine to use with this quilter.
You can put most any home machine on the carriage. But the cruise control is only made for quilting machines and is brand specific. Mine is a Viking Mega Quilter. Which is basicly the same as a Pfaff Grand Quilter, and I believe the Janome1600.
wow! what a beauty, may you have many hours of pleasure and be sure to post your work Jo
I congratulate! This is the dream of all women them the quilting love. Flowers for you
You are going to have great fun and make some great quilts. Enjoy. *4u
Who's a lucky girl then? What a fantastic possession to have...Cruise Control, well I hope it takes the corners nicely....
Congratulations. Does the cruise control do what it promised, give even stitching all the time? Let us know and show the results, please.
Yes, the cruise control is great. I am surprized how easy it is to operate. I have used 2 different Pantographs and made a couple 1yd.quilted pieces that I'm going to attempt to make handbags out of. Look out "Vera Bradley"!!!
Maryjo - you will have to share all you new projects - get to work! Hehehe! *4U
