Our thoughts and prayers are with our Texas Cuties, and hope everything goes well. Made contact with my sister and they just have to hunker down - expecting a lot of rain. She said the evacuation center was all ready full - wonder where the rest of the people will go?

I hope it won't come to that. We are so dependent on power nowadays. I still have an old treadle machine, but that's about the only thing that works without electricity, oh and a can opener and camping gas. Thinking of you.

Oh dear! Not fun! I know they have sent power companies from different states to help out in these kind of situations, so hopefully, you'll not be too long without electricity. We get ice storms that'll put us out of power, so we did get a generator too. Keep in touch when you can; we'll be waiting to hear from you!! Take care. Hugs!!

I hope it isn't that long dear. But it seems you never know with big storms. Take care of your selves and be safe. We too got a generator it has saved us many a times. I just talked hubby into one that comes on automatically. If he weren't here I'd never be able to get the other hooked up and started.

I saw you were less than an hour from Houston and worried Ike may affect you. Buy some dry ice that will keep yor frozen food good for a long time, you can leave it all right in the freezer, and a little goes a very long way. I use dry ice for camping and a small chunk 6"x6" lasts in a cooler for 5 days w/ hot temps. Do not put near fresh foods or foods not to be frozen it will freeze them. Be very careful not to touch it it will cause freezer burn to skin. Love you and stay safe! xoxox

Oh my goodness! My heart goes out to you! We have experience power outages before, and they are definitely not fun! But 18 days is just too long! I will be praying for you all. I agree with dgrammy, get a generator if you can, and if not... maybe you could go to family that does have power. Take care we will be thinking of you all down there.

Oh no,if you can, get a generator now before they all sell out. My Hubby got one when GD was a baby and I told him for years we didn't need it.When a ice storm took power out for a week,I was singing him many praises and glad for the generator,it kept us warm and saved all our food and did't have to sit in dark (no I did'nt get too use computer that week). I have put you all in my prayers. Please stay safe and hugs n flowers 4 u
