I think I have used about all makes & kinds & I do get better results by dbling. Like Charlie I use a lot of the H2gone from walmart mine still has the fabric dept so I'm n luck & they keep shipping stuff from the stores they have closed, course I'll probably go n one day & it won't be there anymore. *
Thanks this is what I thought but wanted to check before starting project. Wallyworld closed 3 here a few months ago, when they start to remodel watch out gone in a flash.
I use Vilene or a woven WSS, and I double it...sometimes I use 3 sheets. I like the designs better. For me, they come out too flimsy with only 1 layer. *4U
I use H2O gone by the yd. from Walmart, if your's has a fabrics dept and I dbl it up. They just closed our fabrics dept. :(
Thanks Wal Mart closed the 3 here a few months ago. Think they made a mistake but they didn't ask us.
I first started with Ultra Solvy-the thickest one, and had no problems. Then got Vilene, and it works great , too. Haven't used more than one sheet. I did find that if I used a strip of paper towel on both sides of the hoop as I hooped, it held quite nicely without moving.

I do a lot of FSL - I do not use "vilene", but badgemaster. I do double both that and my water solvy. I found that it does so much better for the high stitch count that is usually in the FSL. I know that many say that it is not necessary to double, but I have done it both ways, and am happier with the results with the doubling. Good stitcches to you.
I have not tried FSL yet,so I will just give you a flower and send ya back to the top so someone will see your question that can help you.
I know someone will come along and give you the answer you need I am new at this and have no idea. I will give ou a flower
