Please, call 911 if you don't have a car, or hitchhike, do anything it takes to get out of Galveston Island. Please do not risk your life, the property damage will be severe, as well as power outages. Please find a shelter to go to. This is so dangerous, and I fear for your lives. I cannot emphasize enough, the Weather Channel is showing Surfside Beach already flooded, they are begging people to leave. Please, please heed this warning & go, whatever it takes. The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore said that there are still about 70% of residents on Galveston Island, and the water's rising fast. I am so afraid for the folks there who have not left yet! I remember watching the devestation of Katrina unfold. This is not a high category storm, but it is huge, it covers almost all the Gulf of Mexico! I feel so helpless. Marji

I hope all the residents have gotten out of harms way and will be safe.This is very dangerous and very scary and to hear of people still in harms way just give me the chills.please call 911 and go to safety.I have said a prayer for all in the path of the hurricane.
