Hi there, well just 2 nights ago I also went into that site and had the same trouble. Oh my god, when I opened my inbox, I had 40 odd emails and it freaked me out too... I had unsubscribed the night before but still got a pile of emails. I too like the cute site as it is so simple and everyone is so friendly. I have just read everyone else`s answers to this question and now I know what I did wrong too. Thanks to everyone. Maybe I will try again. Wish me luck....lol
Pretty scary huh - well cuties have filled both of us in on how to go about it next time - good luck and *4U and welcome to this wonderfl site
Yahoo groups are very worth while, just set the emails to digest. 'Adesigninstitches' is connected to Katiesfund & Pinmoney. These three together provide a lot of good designs. I am sure that if you were to contact the moderator you may be able to rejoin. How else do you think that so many of us can give links to so many freebies if it was not for the groups. Without these groups there would be a lot less info available. I for one enjoy the input from the different groups
It just freaked me out with all the emails - I am not great on the comp and how this all works - thats why this has happened, but with all your lovely people giving me advise i can see the benefits and don't mean to sound ungrateful, I'm sure it is good in Yahoo groups if i can learn to do it properly. Thanks and *4U
i'm now on 3 pages of Yahoo Group! hahaha.
Luckily I've created a seperate yahoo account for this. Well, because i forget my initial password. So i have to create another one. I'm glad that i did. Because right now just abt 2mths+ and my mailbox is already coming to 500 messages. And i click the updates from administrator or something for all the groups. Not daily msg. However, i realised that some of them still like to send u few emails in a day etc. Really nightmare if u have other mails going to that same email address.
See i don't know the tricks of the trade - good idea to have seperate account - thanks for advise and *4U
When you join a yahoo group make sure you click on "web only" which is listed under step 2. Now if you skiped past this you can go back and fix this so you won't get all those emails. haha I just did the same thing and forgot to click on the web only. Go to the group and just above the title bar with the name adesigninstitches you will see your id -- your email --- Group member and "edit membership..... Just click on edit membership and under step 2 you click "web only" and save changes and you won't be getting the emails of every posting.
I think its too late now - I have unsubscribed and believe i read i cannot rejoin now that i have done that (to prevent people from just grabbing freebies and running off) Thanks for you advise and *4U
You don't have to receive everyone's emails, on most groups you can choose to go "no mail" or "daily digest" as well as "individual emails" The choice is yours and it all depends on what you expect to get out of joining a group. Sometimes the information provided by reading the answers to 'Q's far out ways the number of emails you receive, especially if it is a specific help group for say: a software program, or brand of Emb machine or particular hobby. Trouble I find is I always end up answering so many 'Q's I spend my whole day helping everyone else, but that's OK, I really can't help myself, just like answering you.
Thanks Meaganne - i love to read postings of projects and problems and ideas and humourous daily words etc, just not on individual emails i receive 100 at a time. I did wrong when registering i can see that now and from what u have told me, it doesn't help to be so comp illiterate, i have to get my act together and understand more of how this all works. I have been too spoilt with this Cute Site - it is all so very easy to understand and get info and get around the site. I'm glad u can't help yourself 'cos i benefit from your answer and send you LOL and *4U hahaha
I belong to a lot of Yahoo groups, too. First, make a specific Yahoo mail address just for your groups, apart from your 'real' e-mail address. Second, when you sign up, really read thru all the steps and make the choices you want. It defaults to individual e-mails, that means you will get every posting to the group. What you want is Daily Digest, or Special Announcements, unless the group is one that only the moderator can post to. Carole Bauer's Designs So Fine is one of those, she requires you to sign up as individual e-mail but she is the only one who can post, so you only get one e-mail maybe every other week from her. Yahoo groups are great, and there are lots of benefits besides free designs, but you need to pay attention to the signing up process, and not just accept the default settings. Sorry you had such a bad experience, Blackie. Maybe you ought to try again, with the right settings and a Yahoo address specifically for embroidery groups. Works wonders. Best of Luck, Marji
Thanks Marj - i have taken everyones feedback on board and will sort this out and teach myself to understand how it all works. You guessed it - i didn't read thru all the steps to signing up, tttttt *4U and LOL
I am on a lot of the yahoo groups if you leave your group at indivdual mail you will get slammed with mail you need to go in and set it at digest mail so you only get mail from them 1 maybe 2 times a day. I am in about 25 groups there right now I love all the freebies they give me. So sorry you had such a bad experience right off
Didn't take U long to slide out of that did it. Read misscharlies comment. It will help *
Boy lbrow - 1/2 an hour and 100 emails (that would freak anyone out) hahahaha, All cuties have helped me immensely and i now think i know what i am doing (Maybe) hahaha
Had the same problem, only when I tried to unsubscribe, for many days I still got hundreds of emails! I had joined 123 Almost Free. Anyway, I don't plan on doing THAT again. A flower for you.
Surely not gramsbear - i haven't checked today but will do so now - LOL and *4 U
I am a member of a couple of groups. All you have to do is set up your email preferences to eighter Daily diggest or to receive mail only from the group moderators. That should minimize the amount of e-mails you receive.
Blackie just to ease your mind a bit there are 4 options I believe when you join the group and the 4th option is to receive no email. I am in adesigninstitches yahoo group and get email only from the group leader that is option 3 I believe. Option one is mega mail and I forget what 2 is. Hope this helped. *
Thanks for the info - might have a 2nd go, i didn't see the options i just subscribed and within 5 minutes they all started pouring in. With viruses around big time i don't want to risk it. Thanks for a quick response misscharlie and *4U
I have to agree with you there...I did the same thing..It clogged up my computer soooobad:( But enjoy your time here with a *
I am sooooo scared of getting a virus (had 1 about 5 years ago and lost everything) Don't think it is worth the risk in my opinion and thanks for yours and *4U
