Shirlene, what can I say but thanks. :) Sorry but you got me laughing good with this one. As you can tell I loved the responses. Let us know how good it works. hahaha Thanks for sharing. :)
How interesting, don't know whether I would try it though, the egg would most likely end up on the floor
I also was a Home Ec. major, University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I only had the basic food courses as I was more interested in Textiles and Clothing. This whole egg thing prompted me to open my old college cookbook. It requires removing all the rubber bands first as it is in pieces and have even tried to duck tape the backs. We have already agreed to bring to boil, remove from heat, cover and let stand for 15 min. Now , my book next step is pour off hot water, cool promptly in cold water ( I even add a handful of ice cubes). Crackle the shell. Roll egg between hands to loosen the shell and start the peeling at the large end of egg ( my instructor said this is the secret of success) Dipping the egg in a bowl of cold water or holding egg under running cold water help to ease the shell off. Now is this more than you ever wanted to know!!! Love you, Kay
Tempting to try but I can't imagine anyone serving them. Germs!!!!
oh my who would of known lol i do not have enough air in my lungs to do that
it sure was interesting, have you tried this yourself alteady?LOL
Cool! I have to try the baking soda in the cooling water, because my eggs always stick like glue to the shells, so did my mother's. Maybe egg-peeling is genetically inherited? Hee hee hee. With my luck, I'd blow the egg out and the dog would catch it! Very entertaining! Marji
LOL I can just see my dog standing beside me looking hopefully I would miss. That egg would be gone in a flash.
That interesting, but if I order a hard boiled egg in the restaurant I hope that not how they would peel them, I will do it my please.
It certainly was interesting.....but ewwwwwwwww. I'll have a boiled egg please, and hold the germs!
that was pretty cool, I must admit I've been known since my boys were little as the lady whose egss wouldn't peel. It really doesn't matter what trick I try they NEVER peel for me, so I usually only make em when I make potato salad, that way they are all chopped up anyway.
I usually peel mine under running cold water, I'm like the others U wouldn't want your germs on egg & blowing on them is going to put a lot on it. Everyone knows we r all germy. LOL *
Wow, that was so cool!!! I don`t know about blowing my germs all over the egg though... I usually roll the egg on the bench top and it all comes off.
I too have always "iced" my eggs (no pun intended):) But why blow germs from your mouth on eggs you are going to serve to others?
Cool Shirlene will have to give it a try. Also interesting is that free range eggs are better for you. I buy mine locally and they taste much better than store.
I'm going to try it this week, see if it works has anyone else tried it?
I've been putting my eggs in ice for years. It works. I never did try blowing them out though. lol
I'm going to have to try and remember that. Thanks for passing on the tip.
Thanks Shirlene, that was interesting. Have you tried it yet??? hehe
interesting fact i guess.
I have a tip for eggs. I have a degree in Home Economics. I was taught to never boil eggs. They are called hard cooked and not boiled. Cover your eggs and bring to a boil, cover with lid, and turn off heat. Leave for 16 minutes. No green ring around yolk. Some peel okay and others don't.
Run cold water over them after cooked. I was also taught this. Same degree, retired. Nice to meet you.
It is hard to get that message across!!! and stick.
