I have been working on a design for a knit shirt for the gym that I work out .The owner wants me to do shirts for all the employees. Presently she is displaying all the toilet paper covers that I have been making. I worked up a bunch of samples. She selected this one(I will post). I purchased the dumbbells and added them to design: however upon stitching out, I realized the dumbbells were way to dense. Upon the help and advise of "miss Charlie", tried it again with density greatly reduced!! Still won't work. I need the help of a digitizer!!! Just the outline of the dumbbells in a satin stitch. Something simple. I would welcome any help as I could make a little extra money here.

I also use a small piece of felt to back designs on T-shirts. I find this helps the fabric from pulling. adelmarie's design is nice.

When I bought some super dense designs for a T-shirt, and ended up making a little hole in it, I got some thin felt, and put it behind the t-shirt and went ahead and embroidered it. After I was through with all the designs, I trimmed the felt, and was pleased with the result. I hope you have found help already.

I stitched the sample on a felt Toilet Paper Cover. That is when I discovered the problem.

You said you resized the design, what size was it and what size do you want?

The original dumbell was 98.2 X83.7mm (3.86"(w)x3.29 (h)). I tried to make it about 1 1/2"wide x 1 1/4"high.

Katy, these were probably not digitized to go on stretch knit fabric. It is usually not allowed to change the designs. If you need help, there are a number of digitizers here who could digitize a dumbbell for you to go on stretch knit fabric, with out contravening any laws.

Did you digitize these yourself? If your digitizer has a setting for different types of fabrics, and you want to put them on stretch knit fabric, then set your digitizer on stretch knit fabric and it should digitize accordingly. I have a Janome Digitizer Pro and it has different settings for different types of fabrics. Also, if you eliminate the underlay stitching, this should help reduce the density somewhat, but generally speaking all you need to do is change your fabric setting.

I bought the dumbbells. I do have the settings for different fabrics in my software, Bernina vs 5, and also have the ability to change the density in my machine, Bernina 730E. I think the problem is trying to reduce a design beyond its limits.

Sometimes a new needle (pecial embroidery needle for stretch fabric) help! Why not using a "light" motif stitch for the fills and only a triple or twice running stitch for the outlines, a little bit like a RW design!

After the first trial failed, I put 4 layers and it was still a disaster. I just tried to re size a design more than it's limits
