I use one layer of 80 micron film type wss (normal weight is only 20 micron thick). Works perfectly.

I use 2 layers H2gone it is a light wt stabilizer, that looks like the consistancy of a fabric sotener sheet. There is also the kind that looks like a plastic wrap never tried it am happy with the WSS fabric type. I search freebies all over the place lol

I use one layer of water soluble Solvy heavy weight and it seems to work well. You may need to double the lighter weight one.

I would like to find something that only requires one layer. Thanks *

I tried Aquafilm and the result was not good. I tried Aqua Magic Plus and the result was a lot better. It was a bit stiff after the first clean (water). I used double layer of it and single layer. The result was almost identical. Thanks PAt

Sandy, FSL is so much fun; I'm glad that you liked it! Please post your project so that we can see it. I use Vilene or a similar type of woven water soluble stabilizer. I find that there is more stability to the design, especially when it's still in the hoop. You can use Solvy or a similar type of clear film type WSS, but sometimes it will start to tear away from the design as you stitch. Also, use at least 2 layers of WSS for your FSL designs. Good luck on future FSL projects!...Barb

Have you tried Badgemaster?

Never heard of it, but will try it. Thanks *

Check out the link below.
http://shoppersrule.com/pc/SP-BAD...

Bagemaster is widely used in free standing embroidery applications such as free standing lace. Badgemaster is a water soluble film similar to Solvy but much heavier. Badgemaster can be hooped by itself and stitched on directly. Once you are done stitching with Badgemaster, cut away as much as possible, immerse it in water and it will dissolve leaving just your stitching.
