a cheapy, the seat kept moving and wouldn't stay up, the tension strap kept coming loose so you'd end up free-wheeling and the speedometer kept falling underneath the handlebars, it annoyed me no end so I stopped using it.

Now it's time to get motivated and re-gain my (pre quit smoking) healthy bod, before I go in for that dreaded surgery.
Reckon I've got three months to get fitter, so I need all the encouragement I can get.
Hugs n roses to you all., Meganne

Meganne, I'm so excited for you! You and Mops will need to do before and after GLAM shots! You girls are gonna be H O T!!! It is wonderful for you to decide to get back into shape. I'm sure you will be there in no time. I've been doing a new(to me) routine by Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz, the docs on Oprah, called YOU staying young workout, so far it has only reminded me that I still feel old, but I'm not giving up.....!

I need to lose the 42 LB that I gained since having pneumonia, heart problems and quitting smoking, haven't been able to exercise until now but I really need to. hnr, M

The question is this: how are you going to fit that in with digitizing and stitching out!!! :):):)

meganne by meganne 28 Sep 2008

Welllll....
I'll digitise in between meal breaks and peddle while i'm stitching out and do housework in my restbreaks and i'll visit cute when i'm sleepwalking....
then when the men in white coats come for me i can tell everyone, I just knew doing the damned housework was too much!!!

Oh, darlin', I'd need one more control on mine, a computer to work the pedals, too! Now, can you mount your laptop on it and stay in touch with us while you pedal? You have more energy than I do, even to get excited about such a gift, hee hee hee. Buy me another sewing machine! But really, go for it, fitness and health are important, and your DH is obviously your cheering section. That really is a wonderful thing he did. So I missed it, what surgery? Take care, Marji

Thanks Marji, and yes DH sure is a sweetie. Since my machine seized up he keeps wanting me to buy another embroidery machine, but I just want my Elna back, won't be long now, I hope. Gosh it's not even a year old yet!
I have a papiloma (lump) in my left boob, they reckon it's not cancerous (yet) so I'm just keeping a close watch on it while I'm waiting for surgery to remove it as it will become cancerous in time. Breast cancer runs in our family, my Sister has already beaten it twice having a mastectomy the 2nd time, 3 aunts and 3 cousins have all had mastectomies. Keep asking why we're born with boobs only to need them cut off. Oh well, if it comes to that it's a quick way to lose a couple of pounds.. And no more hitching up bra straps. Gotta think positive and keep smiling. hugs n roses, Meganne

I've gor my mum's exercise bike here, which I intend to use. Mum died 7 years ago and I never gave it a serious try. Maybe we could encourage each other! How many miles do we start with this week? How many days a week, let's keep each other informed! I can use encouragement as well!

What a great idea!
I won't get mine until Tuesday cause they had sold out of the model i wanted.
We could start with 1 mile a day for a the first week, just to shake the cobwebs out, then increase by half a mile every 2nd day, the secret is to set a speed limit and stick to it.

I used to always peddle at 20-22 MPH for 5 miles, then increase resistance for 5 miles, then increase speed to 28-30 MPH for 5 miles then back to 20-22 MPH for last 5 miles.

This gives me/us something to strive for as it takes quite an effort to ride 20 miles and keep a steady pace. It will probably only take us at least a month, riding every day, before we get this far and can do it comfortably.
I used to always read a book while on the bike, but watching TV's good too.
I'm really looking forward to getting back into it, then I may be able to ride my real bike again. Best time for me was before breakfast, just a mouthfull of water first.. Shouldn't exercise after eating.
OK so do we pick a book to read or a tv show to watch? hnr, M

mops by mops 29 Sep 2008

OK, so I can skip today and start tomorrow as well. I usually went for time, not miles. Start at 10 min. Resistance can be set from 1 - 5 and I usually start with 3 and keep the speed at 30 km/hr, which is just under 19 miles.

meganne by meganne 29 Sep 2008

Good heavens I couldn't do 10 minutes right now if my life depended on it. I have to ease back into it since my heart problems or it may go balistic on me again. (that's why the additional heart monitor). How about we start our own post so we can keep up with each other and other Cuties can watch our progress and join in if they want to???
