I was in shock when I reached back and all my hair was gone. Now what to do! But, the girls at the shop let me know that my family has donated in excess of 150 inches to Locks of Love. At least it goes to something good. My husband has even donated 28 inches - but wears short hair now. We have donated brunette, blonde, and red hair - and the dusty colors that was mixed in my husbands hair - that means a little gray.

Never heard of Locks of Love, but it seems a very good idea. How loving of you to donate your hair. I don't know how they obtain hair here. But I do know that every cancer patient here can have a wig if necessary. Even my 73 yr old brother IL. My daughter was given the address of a wig maker before she started chemo. She refused to go and have a consultation before she lost her hair - which they prefer to see your natural style - and wanted the Sinead O'Connor look. Fortunately she only got bold spots the size of one pound coins, easily covered by the remaining hair. I admire you for your donation!

Most of the beauty shops have the address or you can go the LOCKSOFLOVE wesite. They ask for 10 inches of untreated hair. (no coloring, bleaches or tints) I wear my hair short BUT admire those that grow theirs for others. *4 asking

Dlonna, Thank you. What a most beautiful act of love, I truly admire what you and your family do for those who have already suffered so much without also having to contend with that final devastation of losing their crowning glory.

I am ever so proud of people that do that. It is so unselfish of them and for a needy cause.

What awesome FAMILY! I really admire people that are so giving! Hair grows back, you can have a different look for a little bit, but the BIG thing is you have made someone feel a lot better about themselves & the trials they are facing. Thank you. How about a picture of the "new you!"

OH No - I would hate to frighten you all so much - Had to have a few precancerous places removed from my face the same day, and I look like something out of a Sci-Fi movie - Have to go for a surgical removal and biopsy on my back next week.

This was a wonderful thing to do. I'm so proud of you. I have had short hair my whole adult life. I would not be any good to them!!

That is so awesome! I can imagine it takes a bit to get used to not having long hair. It gets drafty at the back of yourneck :). How wonderful for the recepient who gets to cover up baldness. My grandaughter did the same and can't wait for her hair to get long enough to repeat the process.*******

I think it even more special when the girls only get their hair cut to donate to Locks of Love. My younger GD does not like to have her hair cut. It was to her knees when she got it cut to donate the first time.

What a wonderful thing to do. My neighbor had lost her hair also and was thankful for donations such as yours.

Oh, mary your hair would be a dream for them to work with, but let your hubby ok it first!!!

marymoore by marymoore 02 Oct 2008

oh yes i would have to ask him first

dlonnahawkins by dlonnahawkins 04 Oct 2008

My hubby donated his ponytail at the same time that my younger GD, daughter, and I donated the first time. He and my GD have so much hair that what they donated contributed to two hair pieces each - that was something, and so nice to know.

Eight years ago i had cancer treatment, My hair fell out after six weeks.Your pretty hair is a treasure to people [children] that have none. It helps so much to make that step outside your home when you feel good about yourself. I am clear of cancer now and my hair is back. Thankyou on behalf of Locks of love. *************4U
