Please help! I embroired a santa design from Embroidery Library and he's beautiful, when I washed it, my design wants to draw up. It's on a jersey type shirt and I use the cut away stablizer.

All great advise. We all make stabelizing errors from time to time. Remember the first 3 rules of machine embroidery: Stabelize, Stabelize, Stabelize. I've submitted the RNK address in the past and see that it has been submitted again. They have a terrific chart that shows the amount and types of stabelizer needed for the fabric and stitch count.

It's understabilized. Use a med/heavy weight cut a-way or Iron on if you prefer the float a poly mesh cut a-way under that and float a tear away. With that many stitches, it needs lots of reinforcement on jersey. It should iron out and you will have to iron it every time it's washed.

What type of stabilizer did you use? Maybe you did not give the design the support necessary for the type of fabric. I will try ironing the back side of the design and see how it looks then.

I would try to rewash it and the stretch it out and line dry see if you can get it to stretch back out again. If it does never put it into the dryer. GL*

I have been told you need to preshrink a cut away. BUT am not too sure how to do it! If the shirt was already washed, it's probably the cut away shrinking. I THINK you can preskrink by holding a steam iron over it...but am not sure about that. Anyone know? And from a hint SOMEWHERE it was also reccommended you use the iron on mesh plus another cutaway in the hoop. Hope you can "iron out" the problem & wear the shirt!

Sorry to hear about your problem. I was doing him a few months ago and about 2/3 of the way through the thread broke and when i started it again the design messed up and his mustache started under his lip...a lot of time and a lo of thread wasted. I hope someone can help you with your problem.

I agree if you turn wrong side out anoodd press you might want to use a pressing cloth since the shirt is jersey. Good Luck A flower for you

I agree with others about ironing it on the back side - turn it wrong side out and iron it! I have store bought T-shirts with embroidery and every time I wash them I have to do this because they pull/pucker every time -- the ironing seems to take care of it though!

It was prewashed. I used an old shirt to experiment on. Now I will know what to do with the new.

I use the Floriani No Show Nylon Mesh Fusible Stabilizer. Acccording to their directions, use one stablizer when the stitches are light and less than 8000 stitches. If the design is large, overly dense or poorly digitized, float one or two layers of Floriani medium Tearaway under the hoop to support the excess stitches. These directions are from Floriani and can be found at the following web site. Hope that this will help.

Thank you, very helpful. It had over 30,000 stitches and I should have used extra stablizer.

Can you post a picture so we can see what it's doing? I'm sorry you're having trouble... did you try ironing it on the backside?

I'm not that smart yet. I have the camera but have not figured how to submit design yet.

I used top wash away stabilizer and fusible no show mesh stabilizer on jersey. What type of thread did you use?

Maderia, 40 wt rayon. I, too, used a wash-away-topping. The pattern is heavily stitched and I wonder about tension, could it be too tight.
