Thanks to you all ... think I get it except for the satin stitches that run along the top of the pocket
Thought I might clarify this a bit. Maybe I'm wrong, so someone correct me, but DO NOT UNHOOP THE FABRIC! Just take the hoop off of the machine and cut around the placement line. Then put the whole hoop back on the machine and it will most likely do a zigzag stitch and then a satin stitch over the top of that. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.
If you take it out of the hoop completely, you will never be able to get it lined up again in the same place. Well, not without a lot of struggle and a few choice words. I speak from experience...
You're right! You must take the hoop from the machine and clip but do NOT unhoop. Nice thing to have is special pair of sciccors, but any very sharp pair will do. Buy the duck billed one if you are hooked.
Hope you have your project all finished up and found the answer you needed. Shirlene gave you good directions. If you are one of those people who need to "see it" as I am you can visit emblibrary and watch a video showing applique how to.;)
looks like you have got your answer, so I'm just wishing you a warm welcome, ****
nova533, welcome to the CUTE family - any in the hoop applique generally has instructions included with the design - but let me give this a shot: the first stitch line is usually for there for a placement guide for your materal - stitch it - put your material down - now it will stitch again the exact same line - if not - then put your material down first - stitch around - take it out of the hoop - clip as close as you can - without cutting the stitching and place back in the hoop - continue on with the reminder of the stitching - it will stitch around the design with a zig zag stitch and then a finishing stitch which is more than likely a buttonhole or satin stitching. Good luck - make sure you post this in the CUTE project for all of us to view.
