Is it best to use even weave fabric cloth for cross stitch machine stitching?

You can use Aida if you want to have the appearance of hand done work. Otherwise as long as you stabilize properly your cross stitched machine design should look just fine. I do prefer an iron on for this type of work because it does tend to pull somewhat.;)

I have lots of Aida cloth in lots of colors so I will try it, but thanks for the tip of iron on I'll get that in mind.

Well - let's see if I learned anything from the seminar I attended last week. I was in a quick class for the Vermillion designs, and they recommended using Aida cloth. And because it is expensive they recommended to not hoop it, and to make sure that you line the design to start in one of the holes. Have not tried it, have not even done cross stitch. But, when I went into the Viking store after the seminar they were doing the embroidery club sample for November, and they did cross stitch on cotton - so - I think that it would be users choice. Let me know what you decide to do.
