U have lots of opinions patty. Check out the reviews. Weigh the pros & cons of available help should u need it, user friendly or real complicated etc. Myself I have a baby Lock ellegante & wouldn't take anything 4 it. I would check out dealers, classes available to u etc. *4U
Shop around. You do want to have support within travel distance. Most dealers provide classes also. I have a Designer SE with 4D Extra software and love them. This time of year you may find some good specials since most manufacturers have just come out with the new models.
Be sure whatever machine you get will have a support system in your town! When you get a machine at the large retail stores, you do not have a repairman, teacher, etc. available. The price may be tempting, but if you are spending money on something, you want to have someone to help you when you need it! I have a new Viking Diamond & love it. BUT also have upgraded several times from Viking, started with the Rose almost 11 yrs. ago. I have a wonderful dealer that is always there to help and answer questions.
This is so truth, YOU NEED TO BUY FROM SOME ONE THAT IS GOING TO BE WITHIND DRIVING DISTANCES FOR YOU AND WILLING TO HELP.
If you know your price range, then that will be lot easy. I do have pfaff 2170 for sale and I will include all the hoops like endless hoop and grand hoop and the pfaff embroidery designs that I brought additional.
I've got the designer 1 usb from Husqvarna and my favorite saying is "You'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands to get it away from me." Now that's love. I started with the 955E but was limited by the built in designs, but have not found anything I don't like about my designer 1. It all boils down to how much you want to spend and what type of suport you will have. A lot of people areound here go for the Bernina but I was not a fan of the front load bobbin, I like the drop in - no big deal to some but important to me. Also the Bernina seems 'square' to my eye. Again it's just a matter of personal preference. I agree ebay should be the first stop, then close at your dealer and then make your best decision for what appeals to you and your budget. Have fun and good luck.
It all depends on how much you want to spend, but to start cheching prices go to ebay.Good Luck.***
