to sew without breaking. What will this do to the bobbin area? I don't want to ruin my machine!

Thank you for asking this question, I have just tried my first fsl using the metallic thread, I knew you had to slow the machine down but, didn't know about the needle, thanks again and have fun with it, *4u

I use the Schmetz metallic needle, but unfortunately I cannot slow down the embroidery speed on my machine, only the sewing speed.

sorry dont have much more to add to whats already been posted i would use metallic thread top and bottom for lace designs also use a metallic needle schmetz do a good one they are a little more expensive but worth it the design turns out so much better and threads don't tend to break good luck and happy stitching :)

I need to add there r different brands of metallic thread, my machine does not like sulky at all. U may can use another brand without problems but always use a metallic needle. *4U

If it's FSL I use metallic on bobbin as well but slow my machine down as much as slow as it will go. *4u

Yes - I do use the same thread - I use the metalfil needle, and slow the machine down. You want your FSL to appear the same from both sides. I have done several angels using the metallic threads and have had no problems with the machine. Happy sewing to you.
