I HAVE BEEN WORKING AT SORTING OUT MY DESIGNS AS I HAVE THOUSANDS AND NO GREAT ORDER I THINK I MAY BE HALF WAY THROUGH..SO I DESIDED TO DO A BACK UP TODAY AND WHEN I CLICKED ON EXTERNAL DRIVE ICON ALL I GOT WAS A BLANK SCREEN THEN THE FOLDERS BUT NO PICTURES AND THEN THE FILES DISSAPPEARED AND AFTER THAT I RAN A SCAN AND NO VIRUSES SO PANNICED AND RANG MY FRIEND SHE SUGGESTED TO SHUT DOWN AND START AGAIN .. AND IT WORKED BUT DID I FEEL ILL. AND I PRAYED AND ALL IS FINE.. SO I WILL BE BUSY BACKING UP ALL .... BACK UP BACK UP...

I think that we need to set our machine to do auto back up on a timely basis. Say once a week, or least once a month! I know I would be heart sick if I lost the thousands of designs and info that I have, and probably would never use, but I don't want to lose it. Flowers to you for the stress you went through ****

PHEW! What a relief! I'm so glad it all ended well.

Don't forget to grab some blank DVD's and just create data disks with 'copies' of all your designs as well as your back ups.
If you do it neatly from the start (LOL!) you can index them & when you want particular designs just insert the DVD's containing the types you're looking for. Double security & 1 DVD holds 7 times more than a CD. hugs n roses, M

Glas it turns out well and that you still have your designs. I backup every 14 days so I cannot loos to many designs when it happens to me.

I'm glad everything turned out to be OK. And thanks for the warning. I do back up but not as regular as I ought to. So you know what I'll be doing next.. Flower for the warning.
