I see you got yours to work but I have broken a needle, then they would keep breaking it took me taking the machine apart to realize the top plate had moved just a little enough to make every needle break. after that lesson I always check my plate after a needle breaks. but here is a *4U
Thanks, we checked that too. I also thought I had a burr. I do have a pretty tough plate. hehehe *4u
When you broke the first needle, did it damage the plate or bobbin case? I broke one a while back and it went through a plastic section on my bobbin case, then the next needle caught in the hole and it broke. I filed down the ridge around the hole and haven't had a problem since. Eventually it'll need replace.
Thanks for the suggestion. I fixed my problem as you will see in my next post. Now I wish I could unpost this one. hehehe *4u and all.
At one time my machine used to break thread, but it was rayon thread and also the embroidery foot was a little loose. Please don't pull your hair out!!!!**
I always used rayon thread, I never thought about checking my foot. That's another thing to check. Thanks so much.
Lillian gave you a very good good answer so I just at least give you a *. Hope you figure out what was wrong.
Thanks, this is so close to Christmas. Wouldn't you know that it would mess up now. grrr I'm hoping to get it fixed without sending it in. Thanks for the flower and here's one for you too. :-)
I very seldom have a problem with a needle breaking, but I can tell you from experience that they CANNOT sew through your finger and will break when they hit a bone.;)
Elaine is so right, ouch!!!! I've had one sew through my finger, but it sewed through my skin. I just clipped the thread and dipped the thread in peroxide, then pulled it through. That way, I figured it kept it from getting infected. It was kind of numb, so it really didn't feel it. I think I was in shock.
Ouch!!!!!!! I'd wouldn't have the nerve to do that. Let alone stand still long enough to think about it. :)
I use organ needle. I noticed if I used different brands, needle will break more offen. Every use of needle is about 80 hours. Even though it does not break, you should replace after 80 hours.
Defective needle, thread, placement of needle(loose), tension, density of stitches, thickness of fabric & stabalizer. Different variances can come into play to cause needles to break but most common I think is thread. Remember to replace needle every so often. they get really hot during the embroidery. *Look at your manual for trouble shooting needles breaking on your type of machine
I was sewing the same thing over and over. FSL insertions for keychains. On the 5th one my thread got caught under the cone which broke my needle. I wasn't able to complete another insertion after that. I used up one case of needles trying to get another design done. I even asked my DH to screw in a needle to make sure it was nice and tight with no success.
the only time my needles break when doing embroidery is when I use cheap thread and it has a tendency to fray and wrap around the needle and SNAP there it goes. The only other time I break em is when I free motion quilt. (I dont' have the stitch regulator - YET) Hope this helps.
Thanks, I was using cheap thread, but I was using it for quite awhile (it's on a cone) and haven't had a problem with it until now. I will change to my Brother thread and see if that solves the problem.
Hi, Grannyo. That is real pain. How about some trouble related to the tension of the threads? I hope you have it fixed soon. It's worse if you cant sew anymore. Hugs&*
What kind of machine do you have? Some have different reasons. Also, did your system come with a troubleshooting guide?
