Great work Roslyn, what size is the completed piece. And did you use pearly buttons for the decoration? Flower for sharing.

thank you mops. I enlarged the original design as it was pretty small .
This one is 19" finished. The "buttons" are Sequins. Now that there are crystals out , that would look great

Have pretty. Have you seen the Dresden Plate Christmas wreathe pattern by Eleanor Burns? It's evry similar, but would work up alot faster. It;s in her book, "Egg Money Quilts"

It's piecing, not piercing (I've seen workshops in Holland called paper piercing). The design is on paper or tear away or thin vilene and you stitch the scraps of material on it. Makes accuracy for tiny pieces much easier. There are quite a number of books on the method. Are you by any chance a member of the Dutch Quiltersgilde, their library stocks quite a few interesting books on the subject.

Oh Ros, it is lovely - how do you do paper piecing? I think it is lovely work and I do want to learn how. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful project with all of us.

You trace the design onto Tear-a-way by numbers, on the wrong side , place fabric pieces right sides together on the front of the paper, then sewed from the wrong side of the paper. A design with a straight-seam sequence is drawn on paper. Fabric pieces cut the approzimate size are placed in sequence on the unmarked side of the paper and the lines are sewn from the marked side of the paper. After each seam is sewn, the excess fabric is trimmed in the seam allowance, and the piece is opened up. Once the project is complete, the paper is torn away from the stitching. No template making , no fabric marking, and no high degree of skill is needed to accurately piece blocks one right after the other Hope this helps

Oh my Ros - sounds complecated - but I can tell - that it must be easier than is sounds - Hehehe! And the benifit of not marking or using a template has to make it faster work, too. Thanks!
