I had this problem. Turned out I have to adjust my tension way up. I have a Brother. Tension is now 5.2, "normal" is 4.

Try all below sugestions and remove bobbin case as it lifts up slightly if fluffy bunnies are in there also when you rethread your machine make sure foot is up and reel off( pull some thread through the needle) some thread through the needle so that the thread sits where its supposed to be ( does that make sense) hope this helps. happy stitching :)

I hope you found your solution. I am having problems with one of my machines, and just took it apart, cleaned it, and try another bobbin. Sometime those machine grimlins just won't let us do what we want to do!

i have those darn thread cassettes and same happens to me but it is usually my darn bobbin when my bobbin thread is not wound tight enough boy this machine of mine does all kinds of messed up stuff and the machine is what winds it touchy i have learned that about brothers they are very touchy

I would suggest as you rethread, change your needle. However, it could be that you just missed a step in threading.

Yes mine was doing this last week and I tried everything from cleaning and getting the lint out but the thread wasn`t breaking but kept telling me to rethread it... Finally I rethreaded the top thread and bingo.....it started sewing again....

Maria, I do not know if this will help, as I do not know what machine you have. Mine started something similar. On my Babylock there is a lever at the back of the machine that I need to lower for embroidery, I had cleaned my machine and the lever had worked part way up, when I lowered it again where it was suppose to be all was well. Hugs and a flower.

Thread or fluff stuck somewhere. also wipe the bobbin & case & needle to make sure there is no residue. Change your needle making sure that it is pushed all the way to the top of the hole.

Did you try to rethread from the begining. Also redo your bobbin. I used to have a lot of problems with mine I just wasn't threading it right. Hope this helps.

Bobbin cleaned too? My indicates thread break when the bobbin is dirty or when using cardboard side bobbins.
