While liquidating, the store won't accept gift card. Till this day, she still has this piece expensive plastic and doesn't know what to do with it. The store won't give her money back. In this bad economy, just warm you all cuties watch out for the gift card especially from those stores whcih may bankrupt. There are lots of conditions hold for the gift card in the fine print. Just don't want any cuties get hurt. Let's have happy holiday.

I am not sure in Australia will be the same as in the US. Never hurt to be too careful.

My heartbreak was that Mother's Cookies shut down. When I heard, I bought up all I could find. Just think, never to have those delicious taffy cookies or sugar wafers again. There even won't be circus cookies for the kids! (sigh)

I had Mrs Field 4 cookies recipes. If you need them, please let me know. Not sure Mother's Cookies is the same as Mrs. Field cookies.

Many of the stores listed do not surprise me at all.I did not see many people in some of them, before the economy changed. Some of these stores have been in a state of decline for a long time, or hurt by mergers, or poor customer service. There is too much competition, with many huge chains forcing others out. It has been this way for years; just got a lot worse. The quality of many goods has also declined, might as well get the best price. The Internet has also really hurt a lot of traditional stores, and it is also hard to compete with places like Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. After the holidays, I am afraid many more may join the list.

Just give cash instead. :) I personally don't like to give gift cards, seems so impersonal, but occasionally have. It's good to know the risk, never though about it before. Thanks for giving all the cuties the heads up!

I just overheard someone speaking about that today. Yes unfortunately gift cards to a specific merchant or store can be a risky investment in this economy. Perhaps it is a good thing and people will have to actually "think" of a gift to make or purchase, get back to the good ol' days! TYVM for bringing this to the attention of so many! xoxox*
