The first most important tool I have is my ironing board. I cannot hoop sitting down, so I hoop at the ironing board! (I cannot cut out fabric with pattern pinned on sitting down, gotta stand!) Then, is most definately the 3 or 4 pair of scissors I have. I have a pair for just about every job!
Since I moved my machine, I need some light along with my tweezers and embriodery scissors that settles it...FIESTA ;D *2U
No one but no one touches my scissors. They are my prized possesion beside my machines
Well - I do hope that no one does - Hehehe! I understand that requirment, too.
This might show up twice because something glitched the first time I tried it. BUT...I keep a straight edge razor tool near by.I use it to carefully cut my project loose if it bunches while embroidering. Usually manage to cut it loose without leaving a hole in the project. I also use it to shave away the mess left behind on the back of the project. I have saved quite a few projects this way. Time consuming, but sometimes a better option than throwing the whole thing away.
Lori, you must be good with that straigh edge - I would not be - I fear. Thank you *4U
I was looking back to some of the Q&A's and noticed this. What a neat way to share what you use to make your embroidery work easier to do. Thank you.
Thank you all for commenting and sharing your tools - *4U all.
Well Shirlene, I have about 6 pairs of scissors, all different sizes, a few quick unpicks, tape measure, ruler, water soluable pen, screwdriver, pins, a notebook and pen, and of course my glasses...
Thank you Sheryl, we can't forget the glasses - I really should have shared my glasses, magnifying glass and light, too - withouht them I just can't see. Hehehe!
Looks a lot like my collection Shirlene only I have to have 2 & 3 OF everything so I have something n every rm. I walk all over clipping & trimming.
Lillian, you don't really think I would take time to round all of them up for a picture do you - these are just the things - that I have to have - the others are duplicates and extra things that I think I need - Hehehe!
My small scizzors which are attached to a long boingy key chain thing so they dont walk, my stitch ripper dd does that for me. 505 spray all my rulers 10 or so and yes screw driver lots of light. that will do for now. Lisa
That's a great idea! My scissors always seem to be jumping around where I can't find them.
The tools I use the most are my little scissors. I also have several pair and I have to hide them from my hubby, or he will lose them. I have never seen some of the items you have Shirlene. What do you use the scissors (third item from the right) with the big side for?
Ardith, as Lillian has said for applique triming - they are called Duck Bill Applique Scissors - when you trim the material away during applique - it makes it so much easier - the bill guides itself along the thread line - so smooth and slick - Hehehe!
Thanks for the info Lillian and Shirlene. I definitely need to get a pair of these as I love to applique.
Well, yes here are my tools!!! My reading glasses are number 1 priority so I can see what I am doing and my little curved scissors to cut the thread....That`s it for me.......
Oh my... my eyes are going too! I'll be 40 in March and I'm already having the trouble with my arms shrinking... lol
Michele, thank you for posting your tools, too! I love it. But I could never get by with just those two - Hehehe!
YEP!! I have a pair of glasses next to my computer and a second pair next to the embroidery machine!
oh dear, that a whole collection,my most important tool is a very good little scissors. And my glasses to see hehe. but I see many things on the picture, are you a barber too?(just joking...)
Oh Gerry, yes - I forgot the glasses - but they never come off - once I am awake - but what makes you think that I am a barber - hmmmmmmm - jj!
Shirlene, what is that little tool that looks something like a cross. What is it called and what do you use it for?
Deb, with the black handle? That is a scredriver - just as sam said.
Sam, welcome to the CUTE family and thank you so much.
I went to class one day and forgot mine... Not a good idea!! Had a Heck of a time getting the needle out...lol
Oh my... looks like a surgeon's table... lol
Teri, you are too funny - not at all - it is for embroidery - you silly thing.
Shirlene, pay closer attention when you're glued to ER this week... lol.. looks similar to me! Actually, I have so much sewing supplies, I'd make the surgeon blush. LOL xoxo
Well, dear - when I am watching ER - it isn't to see the tools - lol - I see one or two - that could pass - but that is all - I think you need to take a picture of yours and share it here, too. OK?
I notice your duck bill scissors I cannot work out how to use them
raels, I am left handed - so I have had to adapt how I use them - compared to how they are supposed to be used - but you run one of the bills along the material and it will guide you - along the stitching line - I love them for applique work.
These are mine.
Shirlene, I apologize for my ignorance, don't know exact names of items you show us, but two things I cannot work without are: the little scissors (have got 3 of them, and still when I need them cannot find them.. ha..) and the love of my life... the screwdriver! (I like to get my brush into the tight spots of my embrmachine to clean her.. ha..). Now got to bed and have a good night sleep! ha.. hugs Mary
Mary, thank you - I appreciate your comments - but it is way to early for me to get to bed dear. Hehehe! Hugs, Shirlene
well Mary it is 1h 45m after you asked - but it is 10:35 PM now. And there?
Poor darling, I was sending you to your room at 8.30 pm!?!? I think, calculating back, when it was 8.30 pm there, here in Melbourne it was 2.30 pm ... the day after ... ha... Hey, I could warn you in case of any "attacks" from the *Avenging Giant Scary Monster Embroidery Machine* ... ha.. We put our poor machines to work, don't we!? Hugs, Mary
Mary, it is 3:46 AM on Monday here, now - which is 4h 37 m from your last post. Hehehe! I have been working my machine tonight - lol - must be making up for lost time or something - what you working on? Hugs, Shirlene
