Start digitising your own designs, then you'll soon realise that not all freebies are 'gifts'
Some are positively atrocious and some are wonderful.
I have started deleting a lot of my freebies as I am now more aware of the difference between good digitising and poor. Why take up space with porr designs that will never stitch well.
Hugs n roses, M
I have been thinking the very same thoughts lately, addiction it is for sure and as you say we will probably never use even 1/4 of the designs we have diligently collected...like every other "bad" habit I guess the only answer is decipline...will power...no, no I will not download another freebie..written out 50 times !!! LOL let me know if you find a cure ...
My friend...my name is Peggy and I am addicted to freebies. Additionally, I am happy to be addicted and will continue to be a heavy downloader of the freebies as long as my fingers remain in good working order.
Hope this helps you in knowing you are not alone.
I have no idea, but you you find out, please post it ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS!!!!!
I use to b that way but now I only take what I really, really like or think I might possibly use n the future. *4U
I do not down load unless I really like it and if I think i will not use it I just by pass it.I used to down load every thing but no more I get for special holidays FSL and baby thngs I can put on a blanket or in quilt blocks.
Hi, you call this habit "horrible"... ha.. I was the same, until I just couldn't find specific designs when I needed them and had to download them again. My suggestion would be thought to make sure you make folders for each subject. Good Luck and have fun! Mary
Hi. For my part, I make records with the themes that I love, or occasions (Christmas, Easter, etc.). I limit myself to that. I do not download any free or it would be madness :o))
*4U
I now only download the ones that appeal to me,as i was spending tooooo much time fileing and not enought time embroidering. *4U
I just cannot stop collecting the freebies. I keep on saying i don't need anymore but there i go again collecting more. I have more passwords than enough to enter the freebies sites. Is anyone else got the addiction to the extent that you have withdrawl symptoms if you dont get at least 1 a day.
There is no cure lol Just enjoy it. The only tip that I can give you is that just because they are free does not mean you have to DL them all. Just pick the ones you like or think that might come handy at a later time.
I agree with everyone else, you just don't stop collecting them!!! Just have fun with them and get rid of the ones you don't like!!
Probably it's easier to 'collect' freebies because all you're filling up is a hard drive, jump drive, etc, not whole closets, hee hee hee. And your DH doesn't have to trip over them or move them. But, really, think about it. Why download stuff you could do better yourself? Why download things you'll never use in a million years? Why do you need that free chartreuse walnut pattern? And why are you putting your computer in jeopardy by downloading from sites you don't know? One virus from somewhere, and those "free" designs are going to cost you several hundred dollars, to say nothing of grief and lost designs & data. I'm with Bikermom, sort it and pitch. Spend at least as much time actually sewing as you do collecting. And good luck to you!! Marji
Thanks. My DH started calling me Pink Lioness when I got a pair of pink Nike shoes (I'm a Leo, thus the Lioness part). You are so right, I actually just went into a freebie site, and instead of doing any DL, I just bookmarked it. That felt so good! I couldn't bypass completely, but no downloading. :)
Marji has given you the best cure for downloading freebies from all over the net. Just let one Virus come in hidden in a design file and not only do you lose all your freebies, but all your photo's, memories, files, records, music, movies, anything stored on your pc, not to mention haing to spend hours reformatting your hard drive, re-installing ALL your programs and setting up your pc back as close as possible to how you had it previously but without everything that made i uniquely yours. Your files.
Sorry but being a Leo this should really appeal to that 'lazy' side of 'our' nature,,,,, who needs all that extra work when you could be lazing in the sunshine??? LOL!
Hugs n roses, Meganne meiouw!!
Thank you for your suggestion bikermom! I think I'll spend some of my vacation time this Christmas and do exactly that. Just sit at my computer, categorize and delete the junk. I imagine that does feel good. :) Who knows, maybe I can get my design stash down to one 2 gig jump drive. :)
And if the top should break off the Jump drive you'll have nothing!!
Sorry, but too many people are putting their faith in these gadgets and it doesn't take too much for the top section to come away from the workings and they are not repairable nor is the data retrievable.
YOU LOSE EVERYTHING STORED ON THEM!
Be file savvy and copy your files onto DVDs they hold 4.7 GIG and @ $1.60 per disk you can afford to make several copies in case one corrupts.

Don't know but if you find out please let the rest of us know....lol I need more like a hole in the head but can't seem to stop...
When I first began finding all the freebies with help of all the cuties I too became quite an addict. Then while unzipping and sorting my stash (on a daily basis) I started seeing some things that just weren't worth having and wondering why I got em in the first place so I bit the bullet and hit the DELETE key! It actually felt good. Clean up your act and don't download what you really don't want free or otherwise. If you can digitize you certainly don't need to collect the junk. There's to much nice stuff out there. But first and formost have fun!
