here are 2 different versions of the same bell, the purple is polyester thread with silver metallic and the other is red metallic and gold metallic,.

Can anyone help out here please? As you can see I have not dissolved them yet, hope you can see the purple one on the right hand side, how it is not fully attached. Why does this happen on some designs and not others, the red is fine and the purple one was stitched first... Hope someone and help out here,,, thanks

Did you make them in one go? Sometimes when the design is very large, my machine does that. So I make sure to fix the item in the hoop securely and change my needle to 11(I usually use #14). I read that somewhere, and it's working for me. They look great, Sheryl!

Thanks Yoriko, these designs are to be made in my smaller hoop but, I could fit 2 in my larger hoop, when the purple one was finished thats when I decided to try another colour combination...

I used to use the mesh FSL material and switched over to the Ultra Solvy and find I like it best... I have an 8x12 hoop and can do many without trouble... I think you can get a lot more "slack" or "play" in this type of wss than the plastic kind (ultra solvy)... regarless Shery, these are stunning! :-) Good job.

Thanks Rosie, I have tried the solvy and I didn't like it, each to their own, and thanks for the suggestion

Sheryl, beautiful colour cordination! I do a lot of the lace embr from Sue Box. Must admit never had problems, except with the lace embr of Jenny Haskins. Could you have overstretched the the WSS when hooping? Good Luck, Mary

Maria & shirlene have both given u excellent answers. Sometimes it can be the thread or the needle. My guess is also the hooping was not tight enough. they r lovely *4U & remember everything does not always come out perfect. Just dont tell anyone & fix it. Most people will never notice.

Sheryl, these are lovely - inspite of the mistake that you will fix - that I am sure - why it happens some times and not others - generally has to to with the hooping more or less - as Maria has mentioned. And some designs for whatever reason - just can be hooped in multiplies - that is what most designers will tell you - any way - I stitched all of mine singlely - but I liked it so much - I just kept doing it - so I didn't do mine together. but the look of your WSS - there was some pulling - that is for sure. Good luck and can't wait to see them - when you rinse them out and dry them.

Thanks Shirlene, so when the wss is pulling what does that mean? is it not tight enough? As I did the purple one first, took the hoop out and then decided to put it back on and do the red one, so maybe the second hooping was better....

It happens sometimes. Try using two layers of vilene and slow your machine down, if nothing else you can used a couple of stitches by hand or using the same color use a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine, nobody will be able to tell, maybe your vilene was to loose if you can not get it tight enough you may have to wrap your hoop to avoid the vilene from moving.

Thanks Maria, yes I had 2 layers of wss and my machine was down on 400 speed, and yes I was going to zig zig the gap, just thought I would ask why this happens sometimes and not others, haven't tried to wrap the hoop yet. Thanks Maria

I do a LOT of FSL and find that two layers of Vilene work best for me. And the answers already given about NOT stretching it in the hoop are the correction to your problem, as well as stitching only one design in the hoop properly sized for the design size. The more "free" stabilizer area in the hoop, the larger the margin for error. I use an 11 or 12 needle for all FSL and also have the "grid grip" rubber shelving attached to my inner hoop so that there is no slippage using the Vilene which is thinner than most stabilizers. Also when stitching several designs in succession, be sure to check that your hoop screw is still tight after each hooping. Sue Box designs are the best--and she has such beautiful freebies. Be sure to collect the previous Christmas ones--I have stitched the Peace Dove on towels in many color combinations and they are all gorgeous. I usually add a little metallic for glitz. My FSL ornaments are done in metallics also. For a wonderful Christmas star snowflake--go to Sadia's Designs and on her gift page, I think it is-=-this stitches out absolutely beautifully. Did this one in several different metallic combos. Your ornaments are beautiful in the colors you chose. Now off to stitch more! Lj

Hi, and thanks for all of your information, some tips there I didn't know about, and I know I have been into Sadia's Designs, can't remember whether or not I have the star or not, will have to check, I just love FSL, and I don't like it when there is something wrong with them,,,,
