Sorry to hear that. A bad return on a lot of work! People have lost confidence with all the talk of a recession. Here for instance they predicted that house prices would fall 5%, so no houses are sold, everyone is waiting for the 5% drop and so the economy is stalling. More or less a self-fulfilling prophecy. But spendings for St. Nicholas (Dec 5th) were up 5%, hope we sell a lot at the Christmas fair next Saturday.

Sad to hear how the economy is hitting everyone. I took a table at a church craft market last weekend in Fish Hoek, Cape Town and, for a first time, I felt It went pretty well. I sold mostly TP cuffs and tissue purses. I also made quite a few ornaments and only sold about 5 of them. I will definitely do it again next year. Here is my table.

All the hard work you do to get ready for the shows and then no one buys - that is a shame, but on the news tonight they say the economy is effecting even the mall shopping - a lot of lookers, but not buying. They had video of a large mall in the Orlando area, and not many were even carrying one small bag. We may all need to tighten our belts some.

Did my first real craft fair today. I think I did pretty well. Cleared $188. after the rental fee. I sold mostly Bags and FSL ornaments and earrings. Surprisingly didn't sell a single Angel treetopper, despite pricing them at $10. I don't have any fancy display racks and stuff yet so my tables looked kinda sad next to the more seasoned veterans. I'll be ready next time. Of course that probably won't be til next spring. Here's a pic of my tables.

What did you see that sold more than others? If you can't even sell $1 FSL ornaments - as blhamblen stated. What a shame. Were people looking for any one thing in particular?

I sold 3 hand knit scarves at $5.00 ea. I had small angels, gingerbread men/women, Christmas pickles w sayings, denim purses, and fleece hats! Nothing but the 3 scarves sold! MaryJo Your table looks GREAT..Start small...look for things around the house to display things in...baskets, Mug holders, small towel racks from the bathroom tooo!

Sorry to hear Elaine that things were not good for you at the Craft Show...can remember when I did shows back in the 1970's but things have changed for sure...very discouraging when you put in all that work and get nothing in return...Hugs ...

I feel sorry to hear that from you too. Unfortunatelly, the economy crisis are afecting everything and everyone, Elaine. I think no one really knows how bad it can go yet, I just hope all the efforts from the world's government can fix all this mess soon. This is in my prayers too...

Oh my goodness - that is awful - that you put all your work into all those items and they didn't sell - I hope you have lots of friends to give them too or you have storage for another craft show - it has to be hard for you as well. We all will be prayer for relief to this soon.

I made about $150.00 which is better than some but still not like we would all like...maybe next year. One thing is I won't have to work so hard for the next show. Tomorrow I will start on making calender that are on order. Those are already old.

I was at a craft show today toooo. Didn't make enough to cover the cost of the booth. You know it is bad when people don't buy handmade FSL ornaments for $1.00 or $2.00.
