and you can make some modifications to make a robe(hope that is the name) to wear on top your pajama, using a single belt (with the same fabric) instead a 'obi' (large belt). I thought it would be nice for the ones who like kimono.

My Mom used to make Yukatas a lot when we were children, they are not difficult to make, Sheryl.

Oh, Yoriko, this is just wonderful!! Yes, robe or bathrobe is the right term for the 'cover your pj's' garment. I looked over the sewing directions, wow!! They are very comprehensive. And everything is in metric measure, I had to laugh when she said 'get a metric ruler', that's an American for you, hee hee hee. I just marveled at the idea, first of all of having such wide silk fabric. Western fabric is typically 45". And second, before sewing machines, these beautiful garments were made by hand! Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this, I may try my hand at one for summer. I have Salwar Kameez from India that I wear for comfort, like those too. That's big, loose pants and a tunic, so cool. Thanks again, love you, Marji

I might make one for me too. I had two and left them in MN, where I lived about a year. I love your country, Marji! And miss it a lot... I remember how confused was all those measures there, had to throw a lot of recipes in the garbage :D. Love you too, Yoriko.

Japanese kimonos are very beautiful and very comfortable to wear. I have watched silk being woven and seen some fabric which was of an amazing quality. From the same small factory I have 3 long silk scarves that have my name woven into them. Two were made on my first visit and the third on the second visit. How many kimonos do you have and how often do you wear one?
