Thanks for this useful info. Have not sewn a sweatshirt yet
I just did a sweatshirt with the 'divas' from our xmas sprite site and I hooped regular stablizer, then put the hoop in the machine, then laid the sweatshirt on top with wss on top of that and did the 'outline' stitch to hold it down, then stitched away, it came out great and I didn't overstretch the sweatshirt, added a few hot fix swaroski's for bling - looks pretty good.
I guess my question should've been, Which kind of wss? The kind with the fibers, or the kink that is like saran wrap?
I use cutaway stabilizer on the back and also WWS on the top to prevent stitches from sinking. I do hoop both stabilizers with the fabric (sandwich the fabric)
I like using the cut-away stabilizer on back(the soft kind since it is usually next to skin) & WSS pinned on top after I hoop stabilizer & sweat. This has always given me good results.
Use as claude says a selfsticking tear away if the design isn't too dense. Otherwise I use a cut-away (like Barb)on the inside and pin down a WSS on top. It will stop the sinking design. I do TONS of sweatshirts (18 this year)near Christmas and those are the methods I use.;)
I stick on the wrong side of the sweatshirt a tear away selfsticking stabilizer and a water soluble on the top. I do not know well the words to explain that, some one of you can translate. I have never had trouble with this method
I have never done a sweatshirt before, but I am sure someone will come along with a great answer for you soon. *4u anyway...
