I never worry about mixing brands.

Ok, what brands do you use?i like the ones that the thread locks in so it does not unwind itself when stored.

I use whatever colors look pretty no matter the brand. Although I have mainly sulky and guterman as that is what joanns puts on sale the most :-)

Thankyou Ashta,I like the silkys,i keep them for special projects as they are twice the price of other threads in my area. I will be going into the big smoke [next biggest town]in a few days will shop around to find some bargains

I mostly use the same, by choice, because that is all I have and all I have bought. I am not slowly branching out and trying some other threads... I have mixed them. But like others have suggested - make sure they are the same weight and shine. Most importantly - HAVE FUN. If you are happy with how it looks, that's all that matters! :) Merry Christmas! ho Ho HO

Mostly I use Robison Anton. Have a few spools of other brands but my majority is RA.

Welcome to the cute family, its always great to have input from the newbees. Somtimes you see whole thread kits on sale on embroidery sites. I have been thinking of making a purchase,my problem is i like to look and touch things befor i buy.

Well I think I mix mine up too. I usually use the same thread on the bobbin as the top. If the colours are the same, well I use it..... shirlene and ricky have the best answer to your question.
Merry Xmas anyway....

Toet, you need not worry about the brand of embroidery thread that you use - but try to use the same quality - so the work will LQQK consistent. If one brand is shiny and the other isn't - it could LQQK strange - unless of coarse it is a face - then it wouldn't matter so much. Merry Christmas.

No. It does not have to be the same brand. I often mix my threads, using Robison Anton, Madeira and Coats.Just make sure they are the same weight(thickness).
