Check your manual, if you don't have one go to janome.com and download one. I have a 10001 and my friend has a 9000 and they are very different. The 9000 does not connect to the computer and takes a special card and card reader; it also uses a different program than Customizer. You need the software to load your designs, and it should have come with the machine, so check with your dealer.
Hi there I have a Janome 11000 and had trouble also with the ATA card and decided to forget it..I always use the USB key I would strongly suggest that you get that if you do not have one..get a 1 gig or 2 gig if you get a higher gig it takes longer to find the designs better to have more smaller ones...then just put the USB key in the computer and download to that your machine will like the USB key better I think at least mine did. if you need any more help you can email me at mattman17@rogers.com I have been embroidering for 2 yrs now so may be of some help? Hi. I'm relatively new to machine embroidery, too. I have a Janome 10001 and what I do is download designs on to my computer, pull the design up in the Customizer and transfer it to the ATA card via the Customizer. This may be a round-about procedure, but it works for me. Good luck! Jackie
You need a Card reader to put "compact flash" card into which will allow you to transfer and hold a number of designs in, from your Janome dealer you can have a card to slip in your flash card.
Alternatively if your 9500 has a usb port you can write a design direct via a USB cable. OR you can can transfer your designs via a "Jump Drive" stick
Your Dealer should know these thing. Good Luck
Janome 10000 Customiser can also transfer Designs
with no problems, you can even make your own designs on this, I do for my wife.

Have you formatted the card?? This must be done first in order to save designs to it. You can do this in your embroidery machine or I use my digital camera--takes only a second. You should also receive complete instructions and demo-hands on from your dealer on your machine. Once you "get it" with the card, you will be writing designs like crazy--it is really simple (once you get the combination)! Lj
In case Ricky's information didn't help you, I'll tell you my experience. I have the Janome 300E, uses the little card like a camera card. This is supposed to go into the laptop so you can download stuff onto it, but every time I try to do that I come up with the error message. I got a Zio drive that has a USB connection, then you put the card into the drive. Looks like a big teardrop that plugs into the laptop. That works every time, and very easily. My silly laptop just doesn't like those cards when I put them in the card slot, 9 out of 10 times I got that failed message, just don't know why. My DH the computer guru passed away, so the Zio was my quick fix. Best of luck to you! Marji
I brought a 'ImageMate CF reader' from my dealer for my card. I also have a Janome 300E. Also I find the 'Customizer' very helpfull but designs must be in jef format. I also have 'Embird' which I'm still learning to use.
Sorry im noy familiar with the Janome embroidery machines but i am sure you will find all the help you need from our other cuties and best of all a big WELCOME to you :)
Liz, I am assuming that Ricky assited you and you have your info saved on your card now - welcome to the CUTE family and we hope to see you more often.
I don't know how to help you, BUT I will send you a BIG W E L C O M E to CUTE:)
after u insert your card into the computer open 'my computer' & check which drive it is showing in then when you save make sure that it is in the correct Drive. e.g. E: c: being your hard drive, there will be 1 for you DVD (CD) etc. if you cannot see which is the correct one click on each until u save it & remember the drive for next time
I have a sandisk card reader as well.Did you install the software with it?
What I do with mine:-I insert the card into the reader.I double click on the design. It has to be in jef format. It will the open in the customizer. Then I click on the card icon. A box will come up with a lot of folders in it.Double click on the EmbF5 folder. That will open up.Click on name and write the name of the design. Then make sure you click on the button that says Write. When it has been written to the card the box will dissapear and the design should be on your card.
If you have any problems, just e-mail me. It is in my profile.
Sorry I can't help , as advised contact your dealer. They will give you a free demo on what to do. Oh and Welcome to an addiction of which there is no know cure. Have fun :):)
I have a Janome but I have the Customizer program. This lets me save to the card. Talk to your dealer but I think you need another program to transfer.
Sorry I can't help out, but I cab say WELCOME to Cute. Here's a flower for you!
I will like to be able to help but, Can you give us some more details of what kind of error are you receiving?
