My mum always gave us stewed (cooked) apple - till we could keep it down and fluids also. I can't remember the reason but there is something in the apple that helps. Do take care of yourself too.

So sorry darlin'! Nothing worse than sick kids, but God usually lets us get them well before it hits us moms! My pediatrician once taught me to pinch the skin on the children's hand and if it is pliant and goes right back there is no dehydration. It always made me feel better to check. Lay down and put your hand on each of them, you will wake if they move and you can get some rest. love and prayers for healing.;)

Tell me about it. I spend the whole night with Joseph (4) vomiting and I'm exhausted, but can't sleep. They are sleeping right now but I can't do it, I'm afraid they can vomiting or need to go to the bathroom, so, I am just watching them. Thank you. Flower and XoXo

Fluid is important whatever he feels like to eat and drink within reason eg mixing milk and juices. you can get what we call here nourishing drinks from the chemist it has all the vitamins either in milk or juice based drinks. Also you can get fromn the supermarkets here what we call on the go foods its a drink that has some cereal in it here we have weet-bix ones and they come in assorted flavours. kids tummys can be funny so he will know what he feels like. clear soups or juices are ok and you can add some powdered sustagen to milk as a food in different flavours and is very good for the sick or elderly. good luck and please get some rest ok take care :)

Thank you so much. I have been giving them lots of fluids because I know how dangerous is a dehydrated kid, but I think they also need solids, both ate some crackers this morning but that's all. Thank you. Flower and XoXo

so sorry to hear about the sickness going on in your family. Our family cure that always seems to go down well and help make you feel better is 'Lipton Noodle Soup'. For some reason this has the best taste when you don't feel good, you can pour it into a cup and they can sip it while sitting in bed or a warm chair. Hope all gets better real soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Letvia. As most said, fluid is very important, especially green tea. In Japan we give 'okayu' a soup made with rice, that helps a lot. You take care of yourself too...

Sorry to hear your family is sick As long as they get plenty of fluids they will be OK. Don't give milk to anyone with diarrhea.. I find a little cornflour in liquid helps bind them

letvia by letvia 02 Jan 2009

That is what I thought about the milk but even the pediatrician told me to give it to them, but I didn't. Thank you Raelene, I just want to be sure about the milk. Flower and XoXo

Sooo sorry to hear this. Hope all the family is better fast! Remember that this is one time that calories are important, not balanced meals right now. Skip the fruits and veggies while diarrhea continues. I have found yogurt (especially the kind with "active cultures") is easy to digest and can even help with the diarrhea. Custard(flan), rice pudding, plain ice cream (no nuts, chunks) are all good too. My mother used to make us Milk Toast which could taste good when nothing else did. Slice of toast in a flat bowl, very lightly buttered and covered with sugar, hot milk poured around it so toast was softened but not too soggy and sugar partly melted.
Hmmm - brings back warm memories...
Best wishes, Lois

may i sugest getting some glucose to add to a milk drink, this will feed him for a while and give him energy. you could try soups, for yourself, you need to get something fast into you to give you the strength to cope with the male members of he family. get some tinned pilchards in a tomato sauce and have some on toasted bread, this is a very high form of protien and easy to do.
prayers given for a fast recovery

The pediatrician told me to give them milk but I honestly don't want to give it to them because I know the milk is not good when you have diarrhea, maybe I'm wrong. And what is pilchards, sorry I'm from Venezuela and don't know it. I tried soup but not luck, you know, kids don't like soup to much, hahaha. Thank you. Flower and XoXo

Oh dear sis, I need you so much :-{
You have a master taking care of children, hahahaha. I'm giving them Ginger Ale and root beer. Some time they eat apple and some crackers, but basically they just want apple juice. I will try with toast. Thank you. Flower and XoXo

try jello, like lime or lemon. They also make pedialite pop cycles, which kids seem to like better.
Also juices like apple juice will give the kids diarrhea and acid burns to the hinny(like diaper rash.
Also try some chicken broth, ch, noodle soup wheat, or babyfood, like peaches. How old is your son? If he is young (under 3) you may need to have him admitted to the hosp for fluids.
Hope all get feeling better soon.

I will try jello, I didn't think on it, but is a good idea, thank you. Apple juice is the only think they want to drink. I made them some soup but I had not luck, they didn't want it. Joseph (4) likes baby food but Michael (2) does not. Flower and XoXo

Oh my Letvia - you do need a break - with all this going on - you have to be so worried - follow the doctors orders - pedialite and gateraide are good things for young ones to drink - juice needs to be the clear kind - broth of some sort, too. You may need to ask a friend help you with them all - so you can rest as well. I will be praying for you dear one.
