I mostly use cut away but the no show polymesh type, it is softer than regular cutaway and it is not stiff. Here is a link so you can see what I am talking about, there are many other brands but this is from where I usually get mine.

I prefer a cut-away on my t-shirts because when the tear away is gone, it allows the design to shrink or go wonkey....I also always use water soluable on top, so no threads get buried in the T. Then I cover the design on the inside of the shirt with a product called Cover the Back. It is what is used on all baby items embroidered commercially these day. Just my preferred method, as I am sure everyone has their own.;)

Iron on tear away. Check the amount of stitches.If over 10,000 slip a piece of normal tear away under the hoop.
