I have been so upset with MYSELF! I could not even embroider today...and that is saying something.....I just needed to get it off my chest! But I still don't feel any better

Sorry to hear about it. Check with your credit card company. Here if we report it we usually do not have to pay it and they close the account and open another one. I think legally we are responsible for the first $50.00.

Oh my goodness! I think we had all better be more alert as the economy continues to get worse! I only hope they bought things they needed! Not trash! I'm so sorry that happened to you! In USA we only have to pay the first $50, and sometimes not that if the company decides you are a good customer. BUT be really careful with those bank cards too!! Someone can wipe out your bank account just as quickly!

Here unless you have some kind of insurance on your card,,,or it is fraud..they would help...but i LOST my card...well left it on the counter and someone picked it up before i did!!
so i am liable. A very expensive lesson

Similar thing happened to my son but not so much money. He got a copy of the receipt from the company that the purchase was made at. He proved it wasn't his signature, name, address, etc. He was not liable for any of it. I'm in the USA.

OMG how awful! There is always a nasty out there ready to take advantage of a situation. The credit card co should have been more help but I suppose different countries have different ways of doing things. My son had his business card hacked and the thieves took £7,000 - it took a long time to sort it out - eventually the card co found who had it! So I hope you get some redress too Jo

Crikey, girl, glad I live in USA, where if you can prove it was lost or stolen & you didn't make the purchases, you're not liable for them over about $50. Can you find out what was purchased, where it was sent? Could you cancel the purchase? If it's being sent to some address, you'd know who took the card, yes? The card company should HELP you with this, not just call you a fool for losing it. Bug them till they do it, Tindo, they're supposed to be for you, not against you. Hugs & flowers, Marji

Hi I am sorry that this happened to you!!
is it possible that the credit card company give you the information about the purchase(s) like the company name.. and then call the company and cancel the order or find out where it is being shipped.. the orders are in your name so you woud think that you could do it!! I'm not sure though!! I am sorry that this happened to you!!

Poor baby, so sorry to hear that you will be liable for all the charges. Here in the u.s. if that happens you are only liable for a minimal amount $50 or so - such a shame - it's bad enough to have to pay off the darn balance in the first place but when it isn't even your shopping it really sucks. Soory again, maybe they'll catch the guy.......(probably a girl)

If you called the card company, and reported it stolen, you shouldn't have to pay but about $50.00.

I dont believe in credit cards and I would be sick if that happened to me. I feel sad for you is there .did you report it to the police. I know sometimes just with my bank card that the people serving you hang on to it untill it is approved and I have had to ask for it back.

tindo by tindo 12 Feb 2009

No ezzemml, the police find it trivial, I rang up my credit card company. Not insured and I lost it..I did not report it lost until after they did the damage. I did not know it was missing for a day..they could have used it all....but i guess they did not want to push there luck incase they had reached my limit.
Will be more alert from now on.

So sorry to hear about your card, and the losses, it so sad that people will stoop so low to do things like this, but I think you will never forget it in a shop again. I believe that a person sometimes learn the hard way to be more carefull. I know all about it !!!!!!

thank you Yoriko I am so peeved off at myself...I am not sure about the saying "not happy Jan" it was an advertisment slogan for Yellow Pages phone book...the assisstant was supposed to put an add in for a company..she missed the dead line...the company was not in the book...lady says to assisstant as she is running away from her..."not happy Jan". It just caught on.

Have you talked to the CC to find out if you are liable for ALL the charges??? I fear that I will also leave my card someplace...like in one of the gas stations...that would rack up BIG charges FAST! I hope it works out in your favor SOON:)

If this was a major credit card like Visa or Mastercard, you shouldn't be responsible for the charges. Someone got my Mastercard number a few years ago and charged all sorts of things. I wasn't responsible for any of the charges. I'm so sorry that this happened to you!
