good ? I usually sit in front of the machine and wait for it to end...what a waste of time...talk about stingy!!
My machine stops and beeps when the thread runs out on top, so I just have to listen for it and keep doing whatever within earshot. If I don't hear it, the machine will go into sleep mode right where it ran out. With this feature, I can use a bobbin on top kind of like a timer if I'm running FSL and don't want it to run to long while I'm not looking.
I do the same as Celticlady. I do not waste anything. I even glue or stitch stablizer together because of costs. H&*.
I do the same as bikermom, the result is then used for card making. I made some fantastic christmas cards using this method a few years ago
Depends on how much is left. If it's really long then I keep it on the bobbin and use it for small parts of a design. The shorter pieces I save in a zip bag. I als save the threads that I cut off (jump stitches etc.) I use them with applique designs with a different twist. I stitch out the design but add a sheer fabric on top and the thread scraps sandwiched between. Really looks nice with some metalic threads added. Does that make sense?
thanks Mickey I will try that right now I just have a really big pickle jar and put all the thread ends in there. Lisa
you can take all the threads unwind them and place them between layers of some type of sticky washaway stablizer and then you'll have a scrap of fabric (sortof) for applique etc. Saw this on t.v. but didn't pay a lot of attention. Of course I just pitch mine, there's usually not enough left to worry about.
I have a lot of bobbins, so I keep the thread on and use it in the top. If I start running out of empty bobbins, I just wind the thread onto an empty spool.
I think that is a great idea. Don't know why I never thought of it..DUUUUUUUUUU
That makes sence,I had not thought of that. I have about 20 bobbins with only a small amount on them. Thanks very helpful. Lisa
I also use up bobbins with too small an amount of thread on them on top. Then I can see what I'm doing.
