I've done several and that is exactly how I do it. WSS on top, tear away on bottom.;)

Yes use the wss on top and the tearaway on the bottom. BUT dont try to hoop it. I did that and didnt want to do another one. But I have learnt a new way and that is to hoop the tearaway, lay your blanket in position over the top of the hoop and set to where you are ready to start. Then put the wss over the top. Pick the largest single frame setting, choose a basting stitch, smooth the wss in place or pin it down or stick it and then sew the frame that is large enough for your design to fit in the middle, the basting stitch will then hold the blanket in place while you sew your design. When finished just unpick the basting stitch. Use a 12 or 14 needle. Depend on the thickness of blanket. I do my towels like this now and I dont have hoop marks on the towel, it works well.

In one of my yahoo groups they say not to iron your minkie because it will take the bumps or whatever designs are on it. I haven't tried making a minkie blanket yet.I didn't know this could happen so I am passing this information on to everyone who reads this.

It is ok to iron it, BUT do it bumps down and into a fluffy towel.;)

Hi.. you might want to test a sample first. I love the minky but it gets tricky because of the different depths of the "bumps" on the minkie. But it is so soft and lovely. Yes heavy clear wash away on top and paper wash away on back. Good luck.

Hi, Not sure about the sort of fabric you've got, but I have done applique with fake fur on top of a fleecy blanket, and I put the plastic washaway stabilizer on the top as it had details such as eyes and wings over the fur and it worked out fine. Oh - I put normal white washaway on the bottom. Hope that helps.
