I you use a design on a shirt for a child of yours, is some one going to police you.. I do not understand.. I have lot's of disney designs on my machine.. this is so confusing..
You are mis-understanding the message. Yes, you can embroider for your child or others and sell. You can not sell or trade the designs you have downloaded
Of course you can use the designs on your machine. But even if the manual of Disney Brother machines tell you may not sell items embroidered with those designs. Question here was about embroidery designs offered on the web where it is doubtful if the digitizer has a license to use copyrighted designs, which in this case turns out to be NO, she hasn't. Which makes it illegal.
Well I won't be using the site either. Thanks for the imformation. Does anybody know of another site offering the same sort of things that has a licence to do so
Sorry I didn't think about copyright. We will see if she answers tne emails. You would think that if she didn't have permission to use the designs someone would have shut her down
You'd think so, but there are several sites offering Disney without permission. I don't know why people risk it, but apparently they think they do no harm.
I sent her an e-mail asking if she had a license to use the (Disney) clipart. Wonder whether I'll get a reply. Until then I won't use her designs.
I have written to her to ask her if she has permission from the licensed owners to digitize and sell their designs. I bet I know the answer to that question!!!! Barb
She doesn't have, nor does she think she needs, permission to use the designs. She claims that she drew them. Not true...the exact same legal licensed designs sell for $119.00 US. I respect the rights of digitizers too much to use these designs, even if they weren't illegal.
I wrote to her at the same time and have not yet got an answer. But I'm glad you have, now we know it's illegal.
There is NOT one word about the copyrights....I'd HATE to get into trouble...sorry not for me:(
They look nice but I wonder about the Disney copyright. It could be a problem.
