Bikermom, Inorder to trim the machine has to cut. I do not understand what you were told. I have cut denim, and as much as four layers of material at once, with no problems. Knock on wood. Haha!! Happy you are working again. H&*.

I'm glad it wasn't something very serious. But what is the difference between cutting jeans or trimming off an inch? Same thickness, same material, I've been shortening them like that for ages.

I think because I was taking in the side of the leg so I had the double thickness of jean plus the thick flat felled seam as well..

I kept having problems with mine several yrs ago & just let it sit on the shelf for several yrs. daughter was visiting from Ky & said "mom take that n to repair shop" I did & same thing out of time. Cost me $25.oo & been using it now for over a yr. with no more problems. Oh the lessons we learn *

you're lucky it wasn't the regular shop charge of $50 or so but glad to hear that I'll be up and running again soon..
