These ladies are so right. I have Embird and thought it would be "jump in and go". Well, I thought wrong. But, playing with it, asking a lot of questions and making a lot of mistakes has taught me alot. No where near enough, but I'm getting there. Learning something new every day. But let me warn you, it's addicting. I have to ground myself to get house work done. But, it's is a lot of fun and fullfilling.

I have a Designer 1 and have used Husqvarna Pro software since 1998, upgrading till 3D. I bought Embird in December 2008, which costs a fraction of the Husqvarna Pro packet, was even half the price of the upgrade to 4D. Both give good results if you know how to use it. I prefer Embird for certain things and now use both, depending on what I want to do. So that's not much help, is it. First decide what you want to do, then have a look at your dealer's, which software goes with your machine and compare prices.

I agree with marjialexa, I have a Janome Memory Craft 11000 and Digitizer Pro - I've just ordered the upgrade to V3 so I do like this programme. It has taken some time to learn and am still learning, there's so much it's capable of doing. At present I am manually digitizing a dart board from a photo I took a while ago, and am happy with the results so far. Take a good look around the internet and digitzing software, read what each one can do, compare it to your must have, could do with, no use at all list of requirements. Cost also comes into this decision as well. Good hunting and best of luck with your decision.

Don't ask simple questions, do you? Hee hee hee. Personally, I think it's the one you can use best for what you want to do. Do you want to digitize professionally, or just do things for the grandkids? Are you fairly program-literate, or do you have a hard time learning computer programs? Do you need videos, tutorials, personal help, or can you learn from a manual? And also, no matter what program you use, there are certain things you need to know about digitizing in general, like pathing, push-pull compensation, underlay, etc. I am not saying any of this to discourage you, by any means, because I think digitizing is a wonderfully creative pastime. But I think we need a little more information to be able to help you. What kind of machine do you have, and do you have a dealer in your area? Do they sell the software for your machine, and give free lessons on it? I have Janome Digitizer Pro, which I got with my Janome 300E. My dealer gives free lessons on both machine & software, free updates, etc. So I had the support to be able to use what I purchased, and although it was expensive ($1700), I have never been sorry, and have put it to good use. Give us your thoughts on what you want to be able to do with it, lots of digitizers here, maybe we can help. Thanks for asking, best of luck to you, Marji
